Alvin Kamara transferring from Alabama (UPDATED)

By Michael Carvell

Alvin Kamara (AJC)

Alvin Kamara (AJC)

Alvin Kamara is transferring from Alabama, the AJC’s Mr. Football 2012 confirmed himself via Twitter on Saturday.

Kamara played running back at Norcross High School, and signed with Alabama over UGA last February. He was ranked as the nation’s No. 1 all-purpose back

Kamara arrived at Alabama with astronomical expectations but had a rough six months there. Kamara had knee surgery during preseason practice, he was not allowed to practice with the team during LSU game week for what Alabama coach Nick Saban called “behavior reasons,” and he was suspended for the Sugar Bowl.

This past season, Kamara was red-shirted. He will have to sit out next season, and will have four years to play three seasons — unless Kamara makes a successful hardship appeal to the NCAA to play next season. Under terms of the Alabama scholarship release according to 247sports, Kamara can transfer to non-SEC schools and has expressed interest in talking to coaches from Clemson, FSU and UCLA, among others, if they’re interested.

Unfortunately, as expected, Kamara was hammered on Twitter by college football fans, causing some Alabama and UGA football players to rush to his defense.

NEWS FROM OVER THE WEEKEND!

BUT. THERE’S. MORE.

All of the supporters for Kamara want him to come to their university so sympathy abounds....now. But what happens if they get him and he still hasn't learned anything from his actions. Being great isn't easy, it's not something bestowed on you it's something you have to earn.

Kamara appears to be a prime candidate for JUCO, then he can sign with Auburn.

Saban sells recruits on the opportunity to be great....some of them just don't realize they have to work hard to accomplish it.

I think Kamara has learned a valuable lesson that will help him be a better man. His High School accomplishments meant nothing when he got to the college level. If you don't work hard, follow the rules and continue to improve, you get left behind. He probably thought he was going to continue to be a football idol without paying the price. Good luck to the young man.

His comments sound like he cares a lot.

He knew the depth chart was full at RB at bamalama and blew the opportunity he had waiting at georgia.

Probably more players to transfer from bamalama soon. Nick sells em all a bill of goods, they get saucer eyes, then realize it isn't all what they say.

Then those darn behavior problems add to the mess.

No need to tell you we told you so.....but I want to say it...We Told You So!

Another over-hyped, too-small-for-SEC grind, whiner who thinks the laws don't apply to the stars!  Damn! Think we can we just cut and paste Kamara's name in some old Crowell stories?

MikeBanning hit the nail right n the head!  Where are those cameras now?

Alvin Kamara?

Doesn't really ring a bell. Maybe he can make a name for himself at a lesser program, if he's learned to control his behavioral issues.

He could take the no SEC school stipulation to court.  No chance it survives.  What the state of AL does with it's football scholarship money has nothing to do with what GA, FL, LA decide to do with theirs.

When he decided to go to BAMA, I was almost certain that he would be riding the bench. I was not that impressed with him in High School.

I saw him at  the GA DOME and he was average at best,

I wish him well, but BAMA is always loaded at RB, and he could not crack the rotation.

Odd that Bama has transfer "stipulations" (no SEC teams) in their schollies.

UGA doesn't.

Most schools have transfer stipulations that you can not transfer within your conference.

If he wants to transfer to UGA, he would have to pay his own way like GRANT from AWBARN did when he transferred from BAMA to AWBARN, or go to JUCO and then transfer to UGA.

OK State even told a transfer that he could not transfer to the SEC.

When Kamara decided to go to Alabama I wasn't too bothered because with Marshall and Gurley I always said that if he comes to Georgia he will be used for mop up and he could be a return specialist. He just wasn't big enough.

this kamara idiot made his own bed by going to bammer and he should be forced to stay there.

HA HA is going Pro and he nothing to lose,  and Shaq Wiggins arrested. Anyone else from BAMA speak up for KAMARA ?

He was a Cancer. You can not have someone like him bringing the program to his level.

Funny story here. Kamara's Sister thought she was going to have tickets to the SUGAR BOWL and she quickly found out that they were pulled due to the bad behavior of her Brother.

This is why he is leaving, and also why Jack Del Rio's son is leaving. The competition is to much for each of them. They both were not going to be the QB or in the rotation at RB. Although rumors are that Jack Del Rio does not like Kiffin.

Rumors are that this kid from FSU is going to transfer to BAMA when he graduates. BAMA will lose a few more QB's if that happens...............................But, they have like 6-7 QB's.

Henry is a BEAST. He will be in the 1-2 rotation with Yeldon this year.

YELDON

HENRY.................Best back on the team

DRAKE.................If he can stop fumbling

TENPENNY..........Will play if he can get over some personal isues at home in Arkansas

TYREN JONES - Marietta HS............................Will probably have to transfer also

FOWLER

HART

KAMARA.............................When you have recruits come in and he tells them that the depth chart is to much to overcome then that player must go. SABAN did the right thing. He had every right to pull the SCHOLLY from him.

Thought he was going to be handed the job. Henry thought the same thing until he realized that he was competing against other 4 and 5 star RB. Henry even told news reporters that he thought he was going to be handed the job.

I guess the Bama fans on the ajc blogs are fake fans according to Ha Ha Clinton Dix because they have been bashing Kamara since last night:

"There goes the FAKE bama fans bashing a player for walking through the door God has opened for him new chapter brother @A_kamara6 work hard!" (Ha Ha Clinton Dix)

Isn't that rich!A guy that just got out of the hoosegow (that's jail for you folks from Alabamastan),   DEFENDING a guy that got booted from Bama for doing things in a "less than ideal manner" according to Bama's standards!

SeeRockCity

I think the slander is a bunch of crap, in fact I wish that they would let him transfer out anywhere he would like to go.

the Real Alabama fans and those that actually attend class and or graduated from the Capstone have better things to do than vilify some out of state kid who is probably just a little home sick.

Best Wishes AK!

Since the Bama fans didn't realize until an hour ago that Mark Richt has a winning record against their prestigious football program (although a few of them claim that games prior to '07 are not "Offical"), I thought I'd drop some wisdom on our readers who also think that Richt has struggled against other programs west of our borders.

Richt also has a winning record against Auburn (gasp!) 8-6.

@A_kamara6: I have nothing but respect for coach saban and Alabama as a whole organization. It just wasn't the right fit for me.

Alvin Kamara transferring from Alabama. So?

Here's the stat that RollingTide can't stand!  Mark Richt has faced Alabama 5 times....He's 3-2.  So, please Rollingtide keep talking all your BS about Richt. We know you hate him because he has a winning record against your school.

just another victim of the sickening nick satan machine.  i dont know how a bama fan can look themselves in the mirror.  there program is a national joke.

Naptyme

@TideDawg   People are sticking up for the kid because a bunch of losers online are upset that he is transferring from their university.

Naptyme
Naptyme

@TideDawg  Can't speak on Saban personally but some of his position coaches need to be reeled in on how they handle peoples children.

Don't speak on someone not working hard because that is very far from the truth in this case.

Naptyme
Naptyme

@HotDawg  Georgia blew their opportunity to get him.

Behavior problems were over blown, this was a conflict of personalities and how certain people (not Saban) interact with 17-21 year olds.

@PigIron Doesn't ring a bell?  He was a 5-star recruit.

If you don't know who he is, it simply means you don't follow recruiting.

AtomicFireball

You couldn't be more wrong. He could still transfer to an sec school but he would have to sit a year. Anywhere else, he can play immediately. His attitude will determine whether he is one of the biggest busts ever or merely overrated.

midtowncowboy

@MUSCLECARAlso odd that Bama doesn't suspend players from drug test failures.  Or yet you never hear about them.

Naptyme

@C-Kirk  Gurley - 210 coming out of high school currently at 232,

Marshall - 190 coming out of high school currently 219

Kamara - 195 coming out of high school currently 215

You don't know what you're talking about.

Naptyme
Naptyme

@MUSCLECAR  You seem to know so much about the program as well as Kamaras sister yet you fail to mention the unprofessionalism that some of the Bama coaches.

Sounds good though but you're not speaking facts.

@MikeBanning

Speaking of "rich," you're a guy that stalked a teenage recruit on Twitter, advocated for locker room justice, and have posted numerous racist and misogynist blog posts,  and yet you're going to take shots at someone else about their character.......

Pot, meet kettle.

AtomicFireball

If UGA ,Bama and other NCAA programs only had "real" fans, cfb wouldn't exist. At least, not anywhere near its current form. Is this what you use to pretend that there is a margin separating you from the rabble? Pinkies out!!

Right you are and with the exception of the 2 games BARN used thieves at QB that were booted from other school  CMR pretty much owned BARN over the last decade and was one batted down pass away from beating them and their thief/QB a couple of months ago.

@KeepOnSmilingWetWillie

Since these guys love the cameras when they are picking out hats on NSD and hamming it up for the Media, WHY don't the same guys/Recruits, MAN UP and face the same cameras and the same sports MEDIA and EXPLAIN why it is they are really transferring?

If it isn't a "right fit" according to AK, then please tell us what changed so much in the 6  or 7 months since you reported to Bama last Summer?

KeepOnSmilingWetWillie

How many NC's does Mark Richt own at UGA? Richt is 1 and 2 vs Nick Saban at Bama.

POAD2013

@michaeltheamerican try Richt's record against SABAN since that is who BAMA is. Richt doesn't have a winning record against SABAN Coached teams.

@MoistDawg And the valedictorian from UGA chimes in!  I love your amazing insight and keen wit, sir.  No doubt only attainable at Georgia's flagship institution.

Bama players don't smoke pot, drink underage, drink or drive, etc....and they all have perfect driving records and valid licenses.

It must be true, because we never hear of any punishment for such things....IS THE SARCASM THICK ENOUGH FOR YOU BAMARDS??

IT'S MEANT TO BE, YOU BUNCH OF HARVEY UPDYKE'S!

AtomicFireball

Why would you tell the media that a kid failed a drug test?

michaeltheamerican

@KeepOnSmilingWetWillie Oh,I didn't realize that Alabama didn't keep football records before Saban came to town. Next time I quote stats about Bama, I'll remember that thats what you do.....when its conventient. The fact remains...

Richt -3

Bama - 2

Boo hoo hoo, Bama fans.

Snagglepuss

@POAD2013@michaeltheamerican

Lets talk about CMR's record against BUNGLEBEE  U  regardless of who was coaching!!!

Then we can talk about best winning percentages of active coaches. CMR had a better win percentage(Top 10 in the nation) than Saban until the latter part of this past season and with Saban currently riding a 2-game losing streak it could go back to CMR again leading Saban.

MoistDawg
MoistDawg

@RollingTide say whatever you want you know its all true.  alabama is the most crokked program in college football exept mabey auburn has you beat and old mi$$ is closing fast.  thats why nobody actually respects bama.  when we win it all there will finally be a legitimate champion that everyone can be proud of and not want to vomit over.

face it the bama ship is sinking and your best days are behind you.  Now its OUR turn to show you how its done the right way.  LOL!!!!

Naptyme
Naptyme

@MichaelCarvell @MikeBanning  Actually he was pretty nervous during NSD, check the sweat stains on his shirt when he puts on his cap.

He was ready for it to be over with.

Do those same cameras hold press conferences when these kids decide to transfer, or are they hyping up the next 4 or 5 star recruit?

He doesn't have to explain anything to anyone, this is his life and his decision.

@POAD2013 @MoistDawg @RollingTide thats because were the only school in the sec that actually doesnt look the other way when there players get in trouble.  its amazing how auburn and bama never have any problems come a important game. everyone suddenly turns into road scholars.
