Lorenzo Carter sinks game-winning shot, leaves for UGA

Now this is doing it in style.

Lorenzo Carter, the state’s No. 1 football prospect, delayed his official visit to UGA so he could play with his Norcross High School basketball team on Friday night.

His teammates are thankful.

After missing the first foul shot, Carter sank a free throw with 1.9 seconds left in regulation to give Norcross a 59-58 win over Peachtree Ridge High School.

The 6-foot-6 Carter tweeted about big moment.

After the game, Carter and his parents left for an official visit to UGA. It’s his final recruiting trip before making next Wednesday’s announcement on ESPN between the Bulldogs, Florida, FSU and LSU.

Another two-sport standout at Norcross, AJ Bush, missed Friday’s game because he got a last-minute offer from Nebraska and had to catch a flight on Friday morning. The left-handed quarterback looked into taking a Saturday flight, but it was too difficult to schedule.

Back to Carter: He met on Friday morning with FSU coach Jimbo Fisher, who had originally planned to visit on Wednesday but had to delay because of the snow. Fisher retuned to FSU on Friday afternoon to greet recruits. Florida coach Will Muschamp gave his final sales pitch on Thursday.

It’s expected to be a wild, wild recruiting weekend for UGA that you can read about HERE. Carter will stay on his visit until Sunday night to watch some of the Super Bowl with the Bulldogs coaches.

The NCAA’s dead period begins at midnight on Sunday.

Another UGA target, safety Shaq Jones (who is committed to Louisville) of Merritt Island, Fla., appeared to enjoy the first day of his official visit with the Bulldogs, based on his tweets:
