UGA DB target ‘very close’ to decision

By Michael Carvell

The recruiting drama surrounding one of UGA’s top remaining targets will go on at least one more day.

Bleckley County High School’s Tavon Ross is still undecided on whether he will flip to UGA or stick with his original commitment to Missouri.

“I think he is very close to making decision,” Bleckley County coach Tracy White told the AJC on late Monday.

Ross is a 3-star safety who has been pledged to Missouri since last summer. He took an official visit to Missouri this past weekend, but it was his first-ever trip to the SEC campus.

UGA picked up a commitment at safety on Monday with Shaquille Jones of Merritt Island, Fla., but the Bulldogs may also lose another safety, longtime commit Kendall Gant, to Marshall for academic reasons.

Even if Gant sticks with UGA, the Bulldogs will likely try to add at least one more defensive back to this year’s class.

Check back for updates.

Jones look way to slim to be a safety, good ball skills thought..... Uga needs T.Ross....The majority of this 2014 class is base on potential... Chubbs & Michel look ready, the TE Jeb because of depth..As for the D recruits  I think DB Parrish and DE Brown. Go Dawgs!!!

Stay at Mizzou. Stick to your original commitment. All these other schools came in late, using you as a backup plan. Mizzou has you as plan #1.

Mizzou looks like a fun team to play for but I don't like the cold.

@johnnysmitty I'm still waiting on you to tell the truth about how many defensive players Mizzou has put in the NFL.

@thebucket  More than Georgia in recent years. More first rounders, more impact on defense. NOBODY UGA has put in the NFL in the last few years has been better than Sheldon Richardson or Aldon Smith.

I have in laws near St. Louis.  Anytime after September, it's generally going to be a heck of a lot colder in Columbia than it will be in Athens.

@johnnysmitty  Mizzou has put some good players in the NFL, but comparing them to UGA's players in the NFL is laughable.
