Griffin LB Jordan Colbert grew up UGA fan

By Michael Carvell

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1496419233001?bctid=3214286026001

It’s no secret that Griffin High School linebacker Jordan Colbert grew up a fan of UGA.

And he readily admits if he had gotten an early offer from the Bulldogs, he would’ve “committed on the spot.” (He talks about it in the video).

Now the circumstances have changed a little bit.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder has gotten early offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and Louisville. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney really won over his mother.

What about UGA? He’s still waiting to hear about an offer. Colbert was supposed to go to Junior Day last weekend, but had to play with his school basketball team in the region tournament.

  • Is it too late for UGA? (He says “no”)
  • What would it take for UGA to get back into the race?
  • Would he still commit on the spot to the Bulldogs?
  • How did Dabo win over the mom?
  • Which schools are in his top three?

Colbert talks about that in the above video.

Watch the interview of this kid. Then watch the interview of the 5 star Safety Roundtree. Just listen to them talk and how they act. One is a Crowell/JHC. The other is a Jarvis Jones/Chris Conley.

I know which one ID rather see sign with Georgia.

NCDawg,

Have fun replacing Harvey-Clemons.  Yet another Bulldog not finding his way back to the path of redemption, but yet being kicked off the team.  Atleast that's one less suspension this coming up year.  Just be prepared to play against him when y'all play Auburn.

I publish links to Carvell's comments section on my Facebook account. Not for the article, but because the morons that comment on here (from all schools) are pathetic butts to normal people's jokes.

Everyone laughs at all of you.

No one wants to go to Tech!

I say PASS... The guy can barely talk.  I'd look for other targets, which is apparently what UGA is doing.

It sounds like Frank Beamer at VPI needs to retire. VaTech used to be on all the players list but I've not heard  many kids mention VPI these days.

Contractor1--You are either extremely delusional, extremely misinformed, or really hitting the peyote hard today. Clemson academics superior to the Univ. of Georgia? You have to be joking. Clemson is the biggest hayseed school in the south. Its obvious you've never been to Clemson, SC.

Wow the tutoring at Clem&Son is a good deal. He will get all the help he needs to stay on the field.

He would be a fool not to attend UGA! UGA is fixing to take over the world! The 2015 class is going to be jacked up!

DawgGoneIt

Offer him UGA! Don't be late to the party and then he won't even consider us. The guy grew up a UGA fan and wants to be at UGA. If he can play (and obviously he can with offers from the mentioned schools) then get him an offer.

while I have nothing but respect for clemson they really are a second tear program to us. sure they may have a couple good years but this should be a no brainer. from academia to stadium to uniforms to fans to facilitys we are just on a higher level. I hope he chooses wisely.

@jarvis1975  you do facebook? Facebook is the punchline to so many jokes already. How many facebook friends do you have that you have actually seen face to face in real life?

You're a tool for having a Facebook account, and then posting on it about other people.  Yet you want to call everyone else pathetic?  Something seems backwards here.

@BSNBC

Even though I am a Dawg fan I have to disagree with your statement. Georgia Tech is a very good School but will never be able to Recruit head to head with the best Colleges until they change Head Coaches. Johnson has done things one way so long he will never change and it doesn't take a genius to learn how to defend against an exclusive running attack.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@BSNBC  Well if they have the Superior High School Education the state of Georgia provides that would make sense. Why try to get a degree if you are not even slightly capable of accomplishing that goal.

Contractor1
Contractor1

It doesn't take a genius to look up the rankings.  Well, maybe it does in your case.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@SLR  Clem&Son isn't much different than UGa in academics.

UGa #60

Clemson #62

Please stop thinking UGa is some ivory tower of education and especially for Athlete Students.

I think we are pretty equal with Clemson. We both have been to a couple BCS bowls, have a couple of championships and both have anational title in our lifetime.

Contractor1
Contractor1

Georgia = Clemson.  Their academics are right on par, if not a hair better than Georgia's, mainly because of their engineering program, but it's tougher to get into Clemson than it is Georgia.  They recruit just as good as Georgia, and have beaten Georgia.  Clemson has one National Championship where Georgia has two, but Clemson has fourteen conference championships to Georgia's twelve.  Facilities are right on par with each other.  While Georgia holds about 10,000 more fans in their stadium, Clemson is regularly regarded as one of the loudest in the country.  I want to say that I absolutely hate Clemson, but I will make it a point to defeat every stupid and idiotic point you ever try and make.  Georgia is not a top tier program, neither is Clemson.  Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Ohio State are top tier programs, because they win and recruit at a higher level than anyone else.  As much as it pains me to put Ohio State in there, it's a reality that they are the best up North.  I will agree on you that Clemson has some of the most awful uniforms in the country and Georgia has some of the best, minus the three year old bubble lettering they adopted this past year.  I can't wait to hear your weak rebutal.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@C-Kirk @BSNBC  That is only part of the problem.  Tech has to expand their curriculum to include additional degree programs if they want to get the best recruits.  So far, they seem unwilling to do so or at least seem to blame it on the Board of Regents.  I am understanding that their administration doesn't want to expand as well.  IDK.

NCDawg
NCDawg

@Contractor1 and you are a genius, right?  I guess that is why you actually believe that Moist is a Bulldog fan.  Man, what perception!

FrankFraticelli
FrankFraticelli

@POAD2013 @SLR

US NEWS Education and Colleges rankings for public universities 2014 rates UGA as the 20th best public university and Clemson as the 21st best - Tech is 7th.....none of these are shoddy ratings....where you got 60th from I don't know. Poad - I know you can do better...quit being so negative.

Contractor1
Contractor1

These guys are idiots POAD.  They simply think they are better than God and that no one is close.  I laugh in their faces because they have nothing to show for all the gloating they do.  Clemson has won a National Championship more recently than Georgia.  And yes, Clemson rivals Georgia academically.

FrankFraticelli
FrankFraticelli

@Contractor1

You blew your argument when you said Ohio State was a top tier program -weak conference, schedule and last year they lost to the only ranked teams they played - might want to edit them out.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@Contractor1  Spoken like a true Bama fan, FOS with a false sense of pride.  Funny we never heard from you guys before Saban got there.  And now that he is buying a car dealership in Bham, I wonder how long before he hangs it up and you are left with a program more like the Shula days.

C-Kirk
C-Kirk

@Gandolph @C-Kirk @BSNBC

I think they have a full Business curriculum . Got to be easier than the Math,  Science and engineering  majors.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Gandolph the BoR has refused to allow Tech to expand. The BoR should give Tech back the Night Business School they started I think it is call GaState now. Ga Southern got engineering UGa got engineering and now Kennesaw State get Southern Poly Tech for the engineering so TECH SHOULD get GaState back under its umbrella.

You've backed his play like a hundred times before, so you must be under that same impression.  Don't give me any ammunition to rip into you, because I'll make you go home and cry again with your patheitc attempt at knowledge.

So you're admitting to be a loser? Just eating at you enough to comment.

Contractor1
Contractor1

It's ok Gandolph, let him keep sounding off and sounding more and more foolish. See Gandolph, these are the type individuals that give good Georgia fans bad names. There are more of these guys out there than ones that can actually back up their talking. NCDawg is just another sidewalk fan that has never had an attachment to the school, but thinks he deserves the right to talk crap about others that actually went to their school they pull for. Pretty comical, but I'm sure his life is as pathetic as his last post.

Contractor1
Contractor1

Wow NCDawg, you're on a roll with your posts today.  When someone fires off at the mouth about someone else being "retarded" you know they lack class and knowledge.  You're simply jealous because Georgia can't hold a candle to my school.  Did you even go to Georgia?  Have you ever donated a pennie to the University of Georgia?  Have you even been to Athens for anything other than a football game?  My guess is no, because you are a true sidewalk fan that holds no educational attachment to the school that you so love and talk about.  Too bad you to all real Georgia fans an injustice with your lack of knowledge about the program and the school itself.  But hey, keep calling others dumb dumbs and retards.  I'm sure that'll make others believe you know what you're talking about.

NCDawg
NCDawg

@Contractor1 you bash Georgia because you are an emotionally retarded child that believes that Bama is better at everything because they win a few championships.  You live in a little world where your self worth is determined solely by the fortunes of some 18-22 year olds on a football field.

Big man...so worthy of bashing anyone.  I'd laugh it you weren't so pitiful.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@Contractor1  Dumbutt, Alabama and now Ohio State offers everyone (check out recruiting services to see).  I assure you that Bama's offer is not a committable offer (whatever that is).  Just throw it on the wall to see if it sticks and we will sort it out later to see who we want.  That is a recruiting strategy, but it is not one that UGA uses all over the nation as do some programs.

Alabama law degrees are certainly more highly regarded than UGA law degrees but only in the state of Alabama.

Let's face it, Alabama is a football factory, period.

Contractor1
Contractor1

I bash Georgia because individuals like you and Moist tell lies and false information about everything you flap your gums about.  I made it a point to show Georgia is not superior to anyone.  Alabama offered this kid, which definitely means he has talent, and Georgia is late to the party yet again on a recruit in their own state.

Alabama has not been known for academics in the past, but is making a huge charge in the rankings from where we were and the university is funneling a ton of money into academia.  All I know is that my wife's law degree is regarded as better than one from Georgia, and my accounting degree is right on par with one from Georgia, so we're not lacking in any area when compared to Georgia, plus we were there for multiple championships.  I know you can't say that about you and Georgia, few fans can considering there are only two out there anyways.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@Contractor1  But you are a Bama troll, why do you care except to bash UGA?  Bama came in at a stellar #86 on the list.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Gandolph

Try again! Can you come up with the rankings of the 14 or 15 schools in the ACC. Do you really think TECH is #7 or worse in the ACC? You really need to get out a lot more.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Gandolph no according to US News and World Report. UGa is closer to Clem&Son than it is Florida as far as education goes.

FrankFraticelli
FrankFraticelli

@Contractor1

Take the recruits you want? Like Brice Ramsey and Clemons and others? Saban devoted an entire afternoon to Brice and could not keep him. Your logic is fading fast as you continue this emotional tirade against some of these other posters...nobody denies 'Bama is on a roll (well, except for their current two game skid) so why do you feel you have to prove anything to a bunch of air heads who are just trying to get your goat (and you're letting them by the way) Enjoy the apparent success of your program and stop trying to build your school up by tearing other's schools down - you won't make any friends doing that.

POAD2013

@Ghost13 you think but you don't know. He was not 100%. He could have been hit and hurt again you don't know anything for sure since he didn't play.

Ghost13
Ghost13

@POAD2013 @Ghost13  21  SEC champions  haven't  won a national title  since  1980. You've never heard me  say anything like that about  bowls.Speaking of  Bowls Georgia has  the  4th most  bowl wins and  5th most appearances.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Ghost13 What world do you live in? If you are not #1 then the are the first loser.

Don't you dog fans say after you lose a bowl game "Well, our guys really didn't want to be at that bowl game anyway,"?

Did you say when Tech beat the real USC that USC didn't really want to be in the game? Wasn't that what Oregon said when they ost and were not going to play in the Rose Bowl?

When an Elite SEC team wins the SEC Championship don't they usually turn that into a National Game? UGa seems to have a difficult time accomplishing that feat.

Ghost13
Ghost13

@POAD2013 @Ghost13  SEC championships, major  bowl wins  ,top ten finishes. You obviously never  been around  or played  college football. If your  only metric are MNC you're  going to be one disappointed individual.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Ghost13 all those wins and nothing to show for it. UGa should hang that banner in Sanford & Son stadium because their are no National Tile Banners to hang from that time period.

Ghost13
Ghost13

@Contractor1  If you want to start in 1980, Georgia is 9th in the country in wins , 2nd in SEC behind  Florida. Bama is 15th one  spot  behind  Clemson. and 5th in the SEC.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@Contractor1  Well, we can agree about the MoistDawg thing, anyway, in addition to the mutual feelings about Gators and Aubie.

Contractor1
Contractor1

Well you sure sound like you have something against us with your endless banter that never adds up.  I hate Florida and Auburn too.  My family are Georgia fans, and I live in Georgia, but I will put someone in their place when they are wrong, like MoistDawg 102% of the time.  And also go back and look at the data about graduation rates, Alabama graduates a higher percentage like the last seven years.

Gandolph

@Contractor1  I am not envious of Bama's success.  I actually wish them well, except when playing UGA.  As an UGA fan, I usually pull for UGA and whoever is playing against Florida and Auburn.

Gandolph

@POAD2013 @Gandolph  We played AU just as close as Alabama did.  Besides, what do you care?  Aren't you a Tech fan?  What is it now, 12 out of 13 or something?

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Gandolph I seem to remember Auburn ruining your preseason National Championship dreams.....No wait Clem&Son did that in the first game of the season. Auburn just twisted the knife in your heart just a little.

Contractor1
Contractor1

Umm, we lost that game.  That happens in sports.  You don't hear me crying about it.  I just get a kick out of Georgia fans trying to make a lot out of nothing, because they are envious of our success and the fact we can come in and take the recruits we want from Georgia.  Yeah, another number one recruiting class definitely shows a downward trend.  Good lord, I sure hope you're not into the stock market or forecasting for any business.

Gandolph
Gandolph

@Contractor1  And just what happened last season when AU thumped your Natty dreams?  Bama is a program on the way down.

@POAD2013 @Gandolph  Still living in the past.....ah, glory days.  If only you could get the Bear resurrected!

Contractor1

Never heard from us before Saban?  You must be a Richt Georgia fan where you only go back to recent achievment in the sport of football.  Too bad you still can't claim a National Championship since 1980.  We've won four since then, and five since 1979.  We double the amount of conference championships you have won.  So what is your point?  You telling me you were on here running your mouth during the Goff and Donnan days?  oh that's right, you were getting straight owned by Tennessee and Florida all of those years.

POAD2013
POAD2013

@Gandolph WOW never heard of Bama before Saban? Now that is Funny.......The Bear, Gene Stallings & Saban all won national titles but you never heard of Bama before Saban......You really need to get out more.
