How does Mark Richt feel about UGA’s 2015 class so far?

By Michael Carvell

How does Mark Richt feel about UGA’s 2015 recruiting class so far?

The Bulldogs are off to a good start with five commitments of high school juniors, led by 5-star athlete Terry Godwin of Callaway High School. The number is expected to double to 10 or more by the end of April.

Richt couldn’t comment on specific recruits due to NCAA rules, but he gave his general feelings about how things were going with UGA’s start for 2015 in an interview with the AJC.

“I think we’re doing a good job of getting our evaluations done as quickly as possible and as efficiently as possible,” he said. “We’re getting some offers out, and I think Georgia is a great place.

“I think there’s a lot of excitement with our staff, not just defensively but offensively. Athens is a beautiful place. You can get a great education at the University of Georgia. It’s a stable environment. I think people like that.”

One of UGA’s top overall targets, McEachern offensive lineman Chuma Edoga, is expected to make an unofficial visit with the Bulldogs this weekend. Edoga, who will likely reach 5-star status in the rankings, had named Tennessee as his leader a few weeks ago, with UGA and USC as tied for second.

On Friday, UGA was also active on the recruiting trail, shipping out offers to defensive end Michael Barnett of Woodland, S.C., and offensive lineman Matthew Burrell of Hylton, Va., according to Twitter reports.

Meanwhile, Georgia Tech has one commitment for 2015, offensive lineman Will Bryan of Franklin County High School.

Back to Chuma Edoga: He answered some recruiting questions from fans via Twitter:

Meanwhile our baseball program continues to stink along with our Tax accountant  coached basketball team. Many folks continue to think we beat Vandy and won our bowl game this past year against a pathetic Nebraska team.

You prove Phillipdj's point.

Phillipdj… the majority of us (an overwhelming % do not post on these blogs) who are actual Georgia fans - know how great we have it, with only that national title being the blemish.

90% of Dawg fans are happy. 40% of ajc Uga bloggers are happy. Sadist, grumpy, whining, pot stirring, ticked at their own personal failure, professional complainers take up an inordinate and disproportionate amount of space here - leading some to believe that Dawg Nation are idiotic and delusional…"

**********************

We have to also mention that every article becomes 90% off topic bragging, name calling, hyperbole, etc.  I have to agree that the vast majority of Bulldog fans aren't here on AJC.com posting comments; and that most are pretty happy with the program.  Yes, some jump to the "idiotic and delusional" conclusion about Dawg fans.  However, I think perhaps a bigger problem with the "professional complainers/whiners" is that the pundits take it as how all of Dawg Nation feels.  A few professional whiners does not a nation make.

I'm afraid you've nearly fallen to their level by bringing up the NC subject.  A NC is near-mythical and near-unobtainable.  Being chosen to play for the NC being based mainly on polls, biased opinions, faulty computer programs, etc makes it a crap shoot.  Now a committee will chose the teams.  Will that make it more exact, more scientific?  Hardly.  Many times it comes down to Lady Luck; EG Awbun.  By the standards of the professional complainers, "trolls", etc, about 140 programs should fire their coaches every year.  Sure, the NC is a worthy goal.  Many, if not most, think the winner of the SECCG should always play for the NC.  Playing in the SECCG is a definite goal.  Winning it is sometimes a matter of luck, bounce of the ball, because both teams are usually pretty outstanding.  In the polls there's usually not a whit of difference between #1 and #5.  Therefore, IMO, winning a NC is only one measure of a program's overall success.  Playing in the SECCG is a true measure.  Being consistent top 10 over time is a true measure (recognizing that the polls can be fickle).  Continually harping on the NC thing borders on asinine.  With all that, ya gotta give Bama/Saban due credit for their success lately.

Can we expect another Dream team in 2016? Will 350 keep spewing mindless rabble? Will Coach Pruitt be savior or satan by then, will Ugga finally stop licking his junk? These and other questions answered as soon as 350 gets out of Sunday school.

I'm sure that Richt's 2015 Dream Team will win the national championship every year they plan, just like all his other Dream Teams did.

Oh wait, none of them did, did they?

Must be inferior coaching, I guess.

It's very amusing that anyone from Tech has anything negative to say about a program that has dominated them so completely of late that when they do win they have rings ordered with the date and event engraved on them so that they may relive a moment that is so rare and so transitional that it coincides with the return of Haley's comet every 76 years. Having said that, all of us have the right to voice our opinions (no matter how meaningless) and post them wherever (no matter how ill placed) we want to. I myself feel no need to go to the Tech blog and say anything - perhaps, that is the reason so many apparent Tech fans come here - they feel the same way. And since they cannot put a product on the field to shut us up, they must resort to coming on our blogs and attempting to aggravate us by belittling a program that basically has beat them up and down for over a decade like a red headed step child and thrown them out to the street to suck on their collective thumbs. And even when they do manage to win their own conference, they even have that yanked out from under them because they cannot abide by the rules. But, I am glad to know that losing to Georgia does not bother Paul Johnson - college coach extraordinaire - because, "He has bigger fish to fry". And he looks like he eats most of those fried fish after the games. So, I welcome all of the nasty comments from that unhappy and profoundly frustrated group we call, "Tech fans" and hope that their time on our blogs helps them to recoup from the eternal nausea that is Tech football. We in the Bull Dawg nation know it "sucks to be you". Welcome friends, we are big enough to take a few jabs from our poor in state rivals who need their big brother in the room to vent on, so that they may release some of their pent up hostilities. We're big enough to take a little abuse if it makes you feel better :)

Tech - the NCAA home of free football tickets and complimentary hot dogs and cokes! Please come to the games! No REALLY! PLEASE!

No team in the SEC has been to more conference championship games than UGA since 2002. 3 of 4 seasons early, 2 of 3 lately. No team in the conference has been to as many consecutive bowl games. Never a losing regular season in the Richt era. Top 5-6 in the country in turning out NFL players. Only 5 starting qbs in 13 years (not counting Mason). All SEC players at every position during the Richt Era. 3 BCS games.

Only thing missing from the resume is a national championship.

Yes, that is stable. It's stable to everyone associated with college football except the idiot trolls on the ajc Uga blog who - as a recent CNN study showed - are sadists by definition.

Those of us - the majority of us (an overwhelming % do not post on these blogs) who are actual Georgia fans - know how great we have it, with only that national title being the blemish.

90% of Dawg fans are happy. 40% of ajc Uga bloggers are happy. Sadist, grumpy, whining, pot stirring, ticked at their own personal failure, professional complainers take up an inordinate and disproportionate amount of space here - leading some to believe that Dawg Nation are idiotic and delusional.

All that misplaced venom spewing and vitriolic nonsense is consistently dumped like word vomit in a place that most true fans either read and give up trying to discuss on, or ignore all together.

Neither my words here, the words of those who agree or the United States Air Force are going to change the self indulging, comically inept, misinformed gushings of the boisterous minority who dump on - because they can't and never could in the first place.

Trolls will never go away - but their positioning in the world will always be on the rung of the life ladder that the rest of us use to wipe our feet on.

Oh and go Dawgs.

Why not ask this question at the end of April when the number of commits is to double....guage the class then: by #'s and quality....also, keeo an eye on the # and size of OL committed!!

@FrankFraticelli The rings were technically for tying for the Coastal Division and the seniors decided that was such a momentous victory they wanted the score engraved as part of the ring.

@FrankFraticelli  you IDIOT Tech didn't have rings made or ordered for beating the 1/2 wit mutts.

Tech beating UGa is rare but a UGa football graduating with a real degree is even more rare.

UGa has remade , re edited, re released the 1980 season story on every medium in existence because it is so rare for UGa to even have a sniff of a Championship unless the Dog athlete is wearing panties instead of a Jock Strap.

The 02 and 07 teams would've played in the title game had they happened in different years. The '12 team DID play in the championship and list by one play (Everyone acknowledges Notre Dame was a joke). Sometimes luck plays a part.

@POAD2013 @thebucket Way to further show you ignorance. Notre Dame was in the MNC and showed only 1 loss in their final record so of course they were ranked ahead of a 2 loss UGA in the final ranking. You lack the basic objectivity to watch both of those games and realize that the winner of the SECCG was going to the MNC and whoever that was would have beaten Notre Dame like they owned them.

But hey keep believin' and enjoy that Kool Aid.........SMH

POAD2013
POAD2013

@thebucket what you want to believe is not FACT. There could have been a few teams that were better than Notre Dame. UGa was still ranked behind Notre Dame in the final polls. So that tells me maybe neither UGa or Notre Dame deserved to be in the BCS CG. Oregon and Ohio St(probation) deserved a shot too.

@POAD2013 @Phillipdj Well if you watch the 2012 SECCG and the MNC after that season and don't arrive at the same conclusion as Phillip then you are more delusional than every overly optimistic Dawg fan that you love to make fun of.

@Phillipdj  Sell that "The real Championship was against Bama" crap to your grandkids in the future. You will not see UGa playing Bama for the National Championship on anything official from the NCAA.
