After UGA 5-star commit Terry Godwin earning a spot in the Nike Opening on Sunday, the second-best news for the Bulldogs was probably Chauncey Rivers.

He’s the 4-star defensive end from Stephenson High School who recently switched his commitment from South Carolina to UGA.

Rivers didn’t earn a spot in The Opening, but he came close. Rivers turned everybody’s heads by dominating one of the nation’s top offensive linemen (we’re not going to name names) in a pair of head-to-head battles on Sunday, according to several recruiting analysts.

  • How does Rivers reflect on his decision to flip from South Carolina to UGA?
  • Is South Carolina still recruiting him? How often do they talk?
  • How committed is Rivers to UGA?
  • Which other high-profile 2015 recruits will Rivers be trying to bring with him to the Bulldogs?

He talks about that and more in the above video.

"Rivers turned everybody’s heads by dominating one of the nation’s top offensive linemen (we’re not going to name names)"  Poor journalism, really. If a kid got beat down that day...report it! They are D-1 prospects playing at an elite level for high school football, they should know how to take criticism by now.

A lot of times (most) I laugh at these high school kids in these videos, but this time I got a different vib.  Chauncey Rivers seems like a very mature young man.  He seems to have an edge about him.  Looks like a great catch for UGA.

Welcome to the DAWG NATION Chauncey!!

It was Mitch Hyatt (5-star Clemson commit) that he wore out. Go ahead and say it because I've already read it on twitter!

Sounds like he might want to be a recruiting coordinator some day! Keep selling your fellow recruits on UGA Chauncey. Way to go.

@Bubbatavious

It looks like UGA has heard the complaints  and has done a lot about the Coaching Staff. The entire Defense is new. McClendon has done an acceptable job and is considered one of the best Recruiters around. Bobo went to Coordinator School 3 years ago during off season and has definitely improved on his play calling. How many Offensive Stars had ACL's last year?

I agree A few of the Offensive Coaches will be on a short leash this year but with a much better Defense maybe the Offense won't  feel they need to make up the short comings of the Defense this year and they can play more in control.

With all the changes, it is way , way too early to find fault. Don't judge this group because of the past.

@Bubbatavious Bubba, Bubba , Bubba what are we going to do with you...still on the I'm really a Dawg fan...no I mean really...its laughable at best and pathetic at worst..and you are talking about the play calling of the coach that the last two years his offense has set UGA scoring records ...back to back...
