More big commitments coming this week

By Michael Carvell

McEachern High School’s Taj Griffin, who is ranked as the No. 1 all-purpose back in the nation, tweeted out that he plans to commit on Thursday. No further details are known at this point.

Griffin made an unofficial visit in March to Oregon, which is his rumored frontrunner. Griffin is projected to pick Oregon by 75 percent of the recruiting experts in the 247sports Crystal Ball predictions, followed by UGA at 25 percent.

ANOTHER AUBURN COMMIT?

Jordan Colbert, a 4-star safety from Griffin High School, will commit on Saturday. His finalists are Auburn, UGA and Florida State.

“I could talk for days about Auburn,” Colbert told autigers.com’s Jason Caldwell.

Colbert admits that he is a lifelong UGA fan but many think that the Bulldogs are probably a long shot because they didn’t offer until last week. FSU is not considered to be a serious contender simply because Colbert has never visited there.

Who knows which college Colbert will pick? (But he’s wearing an Auburn shirt in his Twitter profile pic that you can see here)

THIRD IS A CHARM

McEachern High School offensive lineman Chuma Edoga committed to USC on Monday, running back Taj Griffin could pledge on Thursday, and offensive lineman Chandler Jones will announce on Friday.

Jones is down to Louisville and Syracuse and will tweet out his choice at 7 p.m. Friday.

All the bone  heads writing here don't know shi# about the Dawgs. for over 32 years we have been nothing but second class and no one can tell me that will change anytime soon! The University does not care if we win or loose as long as the money keeps rolling from the Football program that my friends is the sad fact.

i've been a Georgia fan for decades and sometime i ask my self why? our second string players are very suspect we can't afford to get any one hurt, we get very few top knoch recruits a year, we win but we seem to be a step slower than our opponents and we havent had a starting black quarterback sense wayne Johnson in the early 80's...their's a stigma of how this team operates and potenial recruits are a ware of it

The UGA Coaching Staff is the most boring in the South.  Period.  Can you say "Milk Toast"??  Richt is the Harry Reid of the SEC :)

I'm not saying that you've got to get all 20, but at least get 12 to 14, focus man. The top teams of the big 5 conferences have taken note, that if you want elite talent go to metro Atl and south Ga, it's only going to get harder to recruit those areas in the future. If Texas and Texas A&M can do it so can we.

These kids aren't sitting around waiting for an offer from UGA. What's with this attitude of thinking that an offer from UGA late is going to change a relationship already built with teams that are first at being first, not first at being last to offer. If evaluating is the issue then work harder on that issue. AU has more commit's from Ga than UGA, what gives.

CM is doing a great job, but running backs don't win SEC championships defense does. Ohh almost forgot, you've got have an offensive line also!!!

elite recruit in the state of Ga late hurts the chances of getting him. The last five SEC Champions and the last five National champions are doing this, it works. That is why every recruiter that's worth his weight in the metro area of atlanta or south Ga recruiting his but off. This is the way of college football today.

When is CMR going to wake up and realize that the only way to get to the next level is to recruit the state of Ga's top 20 first and foremost. Offering a kid who is a

From what I read and what I believe is that UGA will always have a hard time recruiting the Metro Atlanta area because there is no loyalty to the in state school. A lot of Northeners live there, and UGA is just not as big of a priority.

With Pruitt joining the staff UGA will start to lock down the borders somewhat, but Metro Atlanta will always present some problems. I also agree with CMR to a point about all the Div. 1 talent GA has and that you can't offer them all.

Willie, like it or not, Gus is putting an exciting product on the field. Nick Marshall fell in his lap and is perfect for his offense. Dawgs should of knocked the pass down last year and won the game, thus Auburn would of NOT been in NC game. Destiny is hard to beat.

The Gus Bus just as Tubbs did is making a living our of the Atlanta area.  Mark continues to live by his "we will not offer all the kids"  plan even though it is hurting him and his staff with recruiting. Richt is very lucky to be at UGA.

If you look closely at the last 4 or 5 years, UGA only gets about 2 or 3 of the top 10 rated players in this state to stay home. Some of this if the lingering effect of Rodney Garner quiting about 2 years before he left. If Richt was serious about taking this program up a notch, he ought to personally take over recruiting the top 10 players and show them more love than they have seen and up that to signing say 7 or 8 of the top 10. I don't get our average of signing these guys. Image Richt and Bobo's offense with a OL like Bama's.   I've seen Dawgs get stuffed by Tech on 4th and inch's for pete's sake. The OL  At UGA has little to no surge.

All I want to say....IT IS TIME FOR CMR TO WIN A NC!!!! There will be decommits...and new commitments...but all-in-all you have to have the best wheels to win the Grand Prix...is CMR getting that @ UGA,,most 5*****players since 2002: UF (32): how many titles...AL (28): how many titles...LSU (20); how many titles...AU (15): how many titles...TN (15)...then UGA (14)...TIME FOR CMR TO WIN A NC!!!!

@OldFan,

sooooooo, I guess that would make you the Rodney Dangerfield of this blog! Except Mr Dangerfield is obviously smarter, funnier, and probably better looking than you. Coach Richt and Harry Reid, have little if anything, in common. Kinda like you, and "Common sense"...

Ga needs to look in south ga more. Just about all the kids have lived here all their lives. There are alot of great athletes from south ga going to fla and fsu. More loyal dawg fans down here. Instead of yankee transplants with no loyalty to uga. Come down to region 1 6A and get some talent.

KeepOnSmilingWetWillie

I went to walk the dog because I thought UGA had it won and then I return to the barn luck. Hell of Bama has a FG kicker we win as well then again the old bullfrog joke comes to mind. 3 times Bama is inside the barn 20 and we come away with no points. You just can't do that against good teams.

As Bill Belichick says..."do your dayum job".....

Princess...you missed my point about Mark....he is lucky to be at a school like UGA that is pretty much able to recruit itself or should. If Mark was at Miss Mistake,Ole Miss,or Vandy he would have already been fired.

@KeepOnSmilingWetWillie  But UGA is not lucky to have Richt. They're stuck with a guy who can win 7-9 games most years, but never advance beyond that and win the big games. Under Richt, UGA has become totally irrelevant in the national picture, and in the SEC, they're a spoiler at best.

I don't know why richt doesn't get more out of south ga. Where everyone has grown up all there lives as bulldog fans. Instead the bias AJC likes to talk about metro ATL kids. There are alot of great athletes in south ga. Fla and fsu gets alot of them. Quit messing with yankee transplants and get loyal dawg fans. Were bigger and faster down here

Yep  UGA got lost n the shuffle in 2012 but I wouldn't expect you to remember back that far or even remember UGA winning 2  of the last 3  SEC  East Titles. Dumb and drunk is no way to go through life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Princess_Leia @KeepOnSmilingWetWillie  Because starting the season ranked in the top 5 is "irrelevant in the national picture"...LMFAO...UGA was a top 5 team heading into the 2013 season and will be top 10 again this season

@Princess_Leia @KeepOnSmilingWetWillie  Delusional talk. You do realize UGA is top 10 in wins under Mark Richt and Richt is top 10 in wins among active coaches? 7-9 games most years? We've won 8 games a year since he's been here and most years have been 10+ wins. Get your act together troll
