Some ridiculous photos of UGA 5-star RB Nick Chubb (UPDATED)

By Michael Carvell

Former ESPN and Rivals reporter Radi Nabulsi created a stir on Twitter on Tuesday by posting some ridiculous photos of Nick Chubb.

Chubb is a 5-star prospect who was UGA’s star recruit for 2014 on the offensive side of the ball. You just didn’t hear about Chubb as much as Lorenzo Carter because Chubb committed to the Bulldogs early in the recruiting process and with little or no fanfare.

The surreal pictures of Chubb are from this past week’s state championship track meet. He was clocked at 10.79 seconds in the preliminaries of the Class AAAA 100-meter dash.

Who knows how Chubb will run with the ball in his hands with blockers in front of him next fall? But, to borrow a phrase from 247sports.com’s Rusty Mansell, Chubb looks like a “grown @$$ man” in high school.

Chubb stands 5-foot-11 and 229 pounds. Even though UGA has a Heisman candidate (Todd Gurley) and another junior almost surely to leave early for the NFL (Keith Marshall) at running back this season, look for Chubb to find a way to contribute at the position.

Now for the pics …

"Funny how every AJC UGA related article is swamped by Techies who turn the conversation into academics. The ugly red headed stepchild syndrome Tech has is pathetic. It's also pathetic how Techies act like their school is Ivy-league quality...that is a joke. Its sad when you have to hijack another school's article and the only thing to fall back on is your 36th ranked academics."

Thank you for this..The obsession with UGA football amoung some Tech supporters is sad yet fun to watch..All they do is divert the conversation away from football. And when they talk about football it's always how Georgia stacks up against everybody but Tech..

If he doesn't have a problem holding onto the football it's gonna be fun to watch him go thru the gauntlet of wannabe tacklers.

Can you imagine if you run Todd Gurley a series and then run Keith Marshall a series and then run Nick Chubb a series?  Wow!  I'll bet the defensive backs will really be looking for a receiver to cover.

Does anyone remember when Gurley and Marshall were being recruited, Marshall seemed the big "get". Sony Michel is rated higher than Chubb, but chubb just recently seems to be getting his props............I've always said Nick Chubb is a beast............I hope we have a problem with two.........er..........a rather four er six great backs...........but whatever...........Nick Chubb will be a name Dawg Nation will talk about for years to come.............just you wait and see.....................RED

If Marshall gets roughly the same amount of snaps he got in 2012, he's out of here. No need to risk injury. He will have enough tape and his combine report should be superior. Plus he's more academically astute than most football players. He'll be fine.

POAD2014, it is so pathetic how several of you Tech fans thrive to any UGA story on here. Your jealous rants and "observations" only make you look so envious. When Tech left the SEC, they lowered themselves to mediocrity and somewhat oblivion. You have a fine academic school. That is all you have to talk about, so I guess that is why you are so envious.

@Remarkable3 With Gurley, Marshall, Chubb, Michel, and Douglas you have some powerful backs running at you.  I would not be surprised to see some two RB sets with a pair of these guys in at a time taking turns blocking for each other. Break some old Wishbone plays!

@slydawg  Marshall will have enough tape to be a 5th round pick and that is about it. The NFL is not a RUNNING BACK LEAGUE anymore.

@shameful  Just curiously, does UGA have anything to talk about? You aren't great academically, and you aren't all that great in football. Your basketball team is a bit of a laughing stock. Your baseball team currently has a .500 record. Are you guys still good in women's gymnastics?

@POAD2014 @slydawg  As I stated before: He'll be fine. Better than playing for free "if" football is your planned career. What about David Sims?

@GTBob @shameful Bob, currently, the sporting teams of UGA own you.  Now, tell me more about how Tech is better.  Since we are fans of sports at UGA, and reading sports stories, you know we are not here to weigh in on academics.  Kind of like how you will not find me on Nerds.com jabbing about how GT GPA is subpar to UGA.  Why?  I don't care.  But you know that already.  Please, find something more productive to do with your pathetic time other than telling UGA fans that your school has a higher GPA...

Have a terrible day, Boob!

@GTBob @shamefulMight wanna check the average GPA's of UGA's incoming freshman class vs. Tech's Bob.  Things have changed academically since the 70's and I assure you that argument doesn't hold water anymore

@GTBob @shameful  We must have a lot to talk about. Always catching Tech nerds on our blogs. It's Tech that has nothing to talk about. And NO WOMEN

@GTBob @HotDawg

UGA has numerous degree programs ranked in the Top 10 nationally. More importantly, where it actually counts (in real life and not on paper or dungeons and dragons), Tech is located in a state that is politically ran by UGA graduates, where UGA graduates dominate the managing boards of accounting, finance and consulting firms, where UGA graduates dominate the boards of law firms, where UGA law school graduates dominate government legal positions and where UGA graduates are represented throughout upper-tier medical professions.

Tech and its inferiority complex ridden Techies always have and always will play second fiddle to UGA.I hope you enjoyed myrun on sentence above, I actually could you further on how UGA has a much greater impact than Tech.

@TheBoredIdentity Like I said to someone else, if you don't want academics to be part of the conversation then ask the other UGA posters not to bring it up. Im not trying to hurt anyones feelings but I will respond if prompted.

@hoodman10 @Saldiven @GTBob  Who gives a crap if it's downtown. Athens isn't a utopia either, just check out last nights story on the ajc. Georgia Tech is known for it's excellent academics and especially engineering. The whole world knows it. Fact. The fact that UGA has an engineering school is a joke. UGA's downfall is that it was always be known as a cow college.

GTBob
GTBob

@FlatTire It says that GT is ranked much higher than UGA. US News is probably the closest ranking you will find also.

FlatTire
FlatTire

@GTBob  US News ranks Tech 36th and UGA 60th in their list of top Colleges and Universities.   So what does that say?  Not much since neither are ranked in the top 25.

So a nice big yawn and golf clap when academics are mentioned as the go to response.

@Saldiven If I am cherry picking facts then how about you respond with some of your own instead of asking me to look them up. If proving me wrong is so easy then go for it.

GTBob
GTBob

@Saldiven Your guy brought up academics in an attempt to trash Tech. If the reality of how bad your school is compared to GT hurts you then ask your fellow posters to stay away from the topic. As for Atlanta, Emory is a great school. I am proud of them and their contribution to higher education in the state of Georgia. After all, somebody has to contribute to the non technical side.

Saldiven
Saldiven

@GTBob  Oh, I just wanted to mention that I really love how much GATech fans pound their chests about their academics when they're not even the strongest academic school in Atlanta.

FlatTire
FlatTire

@GTBob  yea Bob tell us again how great the athletic dept is at Tech compared to UGA

Saldiven
Saldiven

@GTBob Why not compare the salary of STEM graduates at UGA to STEM graduates at GATech.  Of course the STEM graduate at Tech are going to have higher salaries than the Literature, History, Eduction, Psychology, etc. graduates at UGA because STEM careers pay higher than those liberal arts degrees.  Until such time as UGA turns into a technical school, the income disparity will remain.

And, yes, GATech ranks higher than UGA on national rankings. What you don't say, however, is that both are ranked in the top 60 or so out of some 2500 colleges and universities.  They're both in the 97% percentile of schools of higher education in the USA.

It's good that at the very least your GATech education has taught you how to cherry pick your data and present it without all the information such that it more effectively supports your position.

If you are more concerned about that then why are you on a football blog??

GTBob
GTBob

@TheAuditor Ok I checked. Incoming GT students have higher GPAs and higher test scores than UGA students with less applicants to choose from. Aside from that GT is ranked much higher in nation rankings, international rankings, graduate salaries, and return on investment. Plus we have an endowment over twice as large as UGA's. Please explain further how my argument doesn't hold water.
