Georgia Tech closed the deal on commit No. 4 in a hurry.

Omarhi Jarrett, a 3-star running back from Manchester High School, committed to Georgia Tech less than 24 hours after getting an offer from the Yellow Jackets.

“We had visited Georgia Tech yesterday, and it was just different than the other schools,” Jarrett told the AJC. “It was nice, and my parents liked it. Not only that, it’s located near the house. Everything just clicked, and I was ready to commit.

The 5-foot-9, 174-pounder said he picked Georgia Tech over offers from Northern Illinois, Middle Tennessee State and Southern Miss. He also had interest from Syracuse and N.C. State.

“Yes sir, I called Coach (Paul) Johnson yesterday with my parents,” Jarrett said. “We told him that we liked the staff and how he presented the college. I just Coach Johnson that ‘I’m all in.’ It went from there.

“He was excited. He said he was waiting on my call, and that it made his day. He can’t wait to coach me.”

Jarrett, who projects to play A-Back at Georgia Tech, has a 3.1 GPA and will major in computer science or engineering.

Welcome aboard.  Also like that he is (initially anyway) majoring in something that has a bit of a challenge to it.

I hope there's more to this kid's game than his highlight film showed.

I have faith in Ted Roof and his staff, so if their evaluation is that he can play, I’ll trust it for now. Like AOT, I was looking forward to this review. The film showed me one play in which he was actually blocked on his way to the QB. He fought through the one double team that I saw, which was very impressive. However, his defensive scheme ran a ton of stunts which left him completely unimpeded on his way to the QB. Every defensive end in the country could have gotten those sacks. I would have liked to have seen more. The kid is obviously very intelligent, and he looks like a hard worker. He looks big on film too. Bigger than he’s listed anyway. From the looks of it, he has excellent conditioning. He covered kickoffs as well as playing defense. I’m sure he’s talented, but the video didn’t show much. If he does move to OLB, he’ll have to drop into coverage, which we haven’t seen. He’s a wait and see type recruit for me. I’m sure he’ll redshirt, and we’ll see what he has for us in 2015.

Keep on smiling.....Mike Leach is not going to leave that desert in Eastern Washington to come to any big city.  No wind burn or sand storm in the ATL.

Just got a chance to watch the hudl video above.  First, a question:  Is it just a typo that it says C/O 2015 AND 2014 on his video?

Second, some observations:

He has good hands.  Several times he made amazing catches.

He has some speed, but more importantly, he can make people miss him.  He was definitely very much like Godhigh in that he seemingly emerges unscathed from what should be sure tackles.

Excellent block on the play that begins around the 3:35 mark.  If he continues to block like that, he'll see playing time early.

His HS runs the SAME PLAY a lot, and I can't blame them, he makes it work.

He looks like he will make an excellent A-Back for GT.

Looks like a good get for Tech, smart kid and he looks to be very quick.  Congrats to Omarhi and good luck in all of your games except for that last regular season game each year.

It's always hard for me to tell much from the high school tapes.

The only thing I can conclude is that he's obviously ready to play against tougher competition.

LOL... He makes these other guys look like they're wearing 10lb. weights around their ankles.

Just a couple more facts on Omahri that I thought some of you might be interested in:

He has a laser time of 4.49, with a 4.13 short shuttle and an overall SPARQ score of around 95. Omahari also has a vertical of 39.8; not too shabby, eh? And just for the record, he also has offers from teams like Arkansas, with more on the way. All of the services are setting him up as a 3 star right now, but watching him cloely this coming season as he may even be bumped up based on his production from last year.

One of Omahri's best assets is that he can catch passes, which the Jackets need from their A-Back position. He will actually remind Tech fans of Robbie Godhigh, but he's actually about 4" taller right now, Also, he's closer to 180 lbs than 170. Watch his film and you'll also see he'll break some ankles with his moves; also like Robbie.

Sounds like a good pickup for the Jackets.

I really like this kids tape. He has speed, shiftiness, and good field vision. Seems like a perfect A-Back for us.

@JacketMan Thanks for the info. Omarhi's offer list came directly from Omarhi. His film looks good. Looks like it was good job of evaluating by Georgia Tech

Agreed. Very shifty. Great speed. Catches the ball well. Good fit for our offense.

@MichaelCarvell Michael, I pulled the offer list(s) from multiple recruiting sites where I saw the other offer(s), like Arkansas. His 40 time, and other stats, came from ESPN.

@JacketMan Yes, but I got the offer list directly from Jarrett. That's always more accurate and more updated than any recruiting website.
