Emerging Georgia RB attracts attention from SEC schools

By Michael Carvell

Let’s keep it real: The state of Georgia has a national reputation for producing running backs.

This year’s class out of Georgia doesn’t really have any traditional backs like most years. The biggest name is probably 5-star Taj Griffin of McEachern, but many scouts like him more at slot and wonder about his long-term durability. Sandy Creek’s Eric Swinney is nice, but also a little under-sized.

One name to watch is Mill Creek High School’s Jonathan Hawkins. His recruiting is picking up with recent offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Penn State and FSU, among others.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder said he would like to get looks from UGA and South Carolina, among others

Jonathan Hawkins talks about recruiting in the below video:

Michael,

Come on, man, what class year is Hawkins?

Can't tell if he wants to be a college running back or a day laborer when he finishes high school.

I think it is a good thing that UGA is loaded at RB, because I don't think this young man is looking to Athens. I think right now he just wants a large number of recruiting offers, but I don't think he is serious about UGA.

Fine looking young man, best of luck in the future. Lose the hat though.
