Griffin star turns down UGA, Texas A&M and Georgia Tech for … Duke

By Michael Carvell

It’s not often that you see Duke land a recruit who also claims offers from UGA, Texas A&M and Georgia Tech.

But that may have been what happened with Keyston Fuller, a 3-star wide receiver from Griffin High School.

Fuller recently committed to Duke, and explained why he turned down the bigger schools in the below video:

I don't understand. How could he have turned down Texas A&M when he was never offered a scholarship from the program? He wouldn't have seen the field at A&M.

He obviously wants more than one of those throwaway diplomas from UGA.

He is going to a good school and a great coach to teach him.

A 3* WR decides to go to Duke. So what.

Smart move....if a kid has a offer from a school like Duke, Stanford, or Northwestern they should take it.  The NFL will find you anywhere and those degrees are much more valuable.

Can't fault a young man for citing academics as a priority.  Now we know why Clemson, Auburn, South Carolina and Florida were never on his list...

Good for him.   Duke is an elite university, and few college players, even those from "football factories" like UGA and Texas A&M will ever be paid a dime to play football.

Good luck to the kid.

If that's the school he felt most comfortable then it's a good choice for him. Just because he turned down the bigger schools for Duke doesn't mean anything. Duke had a good season last year and IMO are on the rise in the ACC. They played for the ACC title last year. Good for him.

I'm a double dawg alum but I have to agree on the academic front. While UGA's academics are now among the upper tier of public universities, Duke is a top 10 school period. More power to the young man!

@RangeRover  Actually as much as I hate to admit it, Floridas a pretty good school.  South Carolina on the other hand....  (and can someone explain to me why we let them in the conference to begin with ?  They didnt/still don't bring anything to the table)

Are you that big of a fool? The graduation rates for those schools is 20-30% higher than those of Georgia etc. boy just can't handle someone going elsewhere other than his Dwags (spelling on purpose).
