UGA still flirting with state’s No. 1 running back

By Michael Carvell

UGA is still flirting with the state’s No. 1 prospect at running back.

The Bulldogs are still in communication with Taj Griffin, the 5-star from McEachern High School.

Griffin committed to Oregon over Clemson during the spring.

Griffin’s older brother is quarterback Ty Griffin, who recently announced that he is transferring from Georgia Tech after his freshman year.

Taj Griffin said his brother hopes to enroll at Oregon by the end of the summer.

Griffin talks about everything in the below video:

Dawgs are lukewarm on him. He's a scatback. They don't work out well in the SEC. He should stick with Oregon.

I imagine he wants to go to a high profile school that actually needs a running back. Georgia's 2015 class is already stacked, and Marshall should stay next year rather than risking a low draft pick.

Could y'all imagine a champ bailey in Gus malzones hands. Coming out of high school champ did it all. But with that said we never would have got to see him play the corner spot. Nick marshal would have been a great corner and still may end up there in the NFL. who knows how he develops as a passer but we all said he was the best ga qb prospect coming out of high school in his recruiting class.

This kid is a spread back or a back you want out in space catching the ball so glad he is going to Oregon and not auburn would be deadly in their offense.

Flirting??

That kid can move!!  Only UGA.  Right under their noses.

And doesn't Edoga attend McEachern?  And Rochester?

Dawg fans, can you say "pipeline"?

I swear, sometimes  you can't help but wonder about Richt and his capabilities. He can't form connections. He can tell you where the best tanning salons are though.

No wonder it's been 35 years.  Geez!  Get the kid and his brother.   NOW!!

DawgGonit, maybe you should try to get a hold of whoever is still recruiting him and let him know Taj won't work out at UGA or the SEC. Good Grief!

Not even in the mold of RB that we recruit here at UGA. He belongs in an offense just like Oregon's. Read option, spread kind of offense that gets him the ball in space with some quick draws, screens, dump offs, etc. He is not a 20-25 carry a game in between the tackles runner.

The good news is Oregon is close by so his family and friends can conveniently come watch him play........NOT!!!

@TIDE_ROLL You better quit worrying about other team's players!  lol...Auburn runs that state now!  And don't forget that total butt whupping by Oklahoma...lol...What does Nick Satan make. 7 million or so? And he is outcoached by Gus and Stoops. He needs to give some of that money back.

@Hangonsloopy You better worry about Ohio State and not other teams!  lol...Ohio State of the famous two game losing streak! What does Corch make a year? 5 million or so. Oops he may have to retire from stress again cause Michigan State is the premier program in that conference now!

@Buzz-Off  I hate it but Oregon's style of play suits him pretty well.  He is a speed back and that is what Oregon likes.  He would have a tough time in the SEC.  It would be hard to use him between the tackles.

@gtcaryd @DawgGoneIt Really? Wanna bet on that? You're saying Gurley has never had that many carries in a single game? Bet your mortgage on that

@Hangonsloopy  Well that's because you are pretty stupid.  The kids seem to like them just fine.  That is all that matters.  If they hated them and Georgia kept doing them, then that would be stupid.

But you don't need any help identifying stupid, you see it in the mirror every morning.  And you prove it on a minute by minute basis on these blogs all day, every day.  That's is a pretty huge sample size of stupidity.  Congrats.

@DawgGoneIt

20 carries a game is 240+ in a season.  Gurley carried it 222x in 14 games in 2012.  Under Bobo or Richt, that is by far the high for a UGA RB.

@gtcaryd  Tennessee's defense has sucked for years.  I am talking about the good teams.  Good grief.  lol
