After losing three out of four starters in the defensive secondary during a troubled offseason, UGA is quickly adding some manpower to the position.
Deontai Williams, a 3-star safety from Jacksonville, flipped from Florida to UGA on Saturday. It was first reported by 247sports.com’s Rusty Mansell.
The 6-foot, 175-pound Williams had been committed to Florida since last January. And his change of mind leaves the Gators with only nine commitments for 2015.
Meanwhile, UGA now has 16 commitments for 2015. The Bulldogs have added two defensive backs in the last 24 hours, including Friday’s pledge of Shaquery Wilson of Miami at Dawg Night prospect camp.
Earlier this spring, UGA dismissed safeties Tray Matthews (now at Auburn) and Josh Harvey-Clemons (now at Lousville), while cornerback Shaq Wiggins (now at Louisville) because he was “looking for a team who will embrace my personality.”
