Could UGA and Georgia Tech both add commitments today?

By Michael Carvell

Could UGA and Georgia Tech both add commitments today?

Michael Chigbu, a 4-star wide receiver from New Orleans, will announce between UGA and Texas A&M at 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to the 247sports.com Crystal Ball predictions, UGA (58%) is slightly favored over Texas A&M (38%) for the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder who is rated as the state of Louisiana’s No. 10 overall prospect.

Georgia Tech could also get a couple of commitments today: Brad and Scott Morgan, twin offensive linemen from Etowah High School, are considering accepting offers from the Yellow Jackets, according to JacketsOnline.com’s Kelly Quinlan.

The twins got offered personally by Georgia Tech’s Paul Johnson on Wednesday under one condition: “We have to commit right away,” per Brad, who was ready to do it but his brother wanted a little time to think about it.

Georgia Tech sucks. I thank God everyday that I wasn't raised to be a Tech fan.

The Morgan twins should "officially" be on board later this evening; just need to speak personally with PJ.

Brad is 3* (Rivals) OG 6'4" 265lb with offers from Minn and S.Miss among others, Scott is 3* DT 6'4" 275 with offers from Louisville, Minn, S. Miss and Iowa State among others. Both camped at Vandy yesterday and made their commitments today.

And yes the last name is Morgan, I got my fingers mixed up LOL!

I think their last names are Morgan...not Logan, but congratulations to the twins and good luck.

Brothers, Brad and Scott Logan just became the 15th and 16th commitments to Tech for the Class of '15! Welcome to the Flats Brad and Scott!

The wr's in this class are long, 6-2, 6-3 and 6-5. It seems height has become a job requirement for that position.

@FireSomebody  I wouldn't exactly call 2-2 (vs Auburn) "owning them" this decade. Maybe by UGA math that constitutes owning, but at GT we would call that an even series.

LA?  Who was the last player from LA that UGA signed??

a lot of talent in that state, but not much mutual love btwn the 'ana boys and UGA.

Rumor is Auburn OL Alec Kozan has a back issue they might have him missing this season. Carl Lawson is out already. Maybe the luck fAU had last year is ovah. Hope the kid can recover and restart his career.

What is so difficult to understand with Mark Richt teams is their reluctance to really focus on the offensive line during recruiting. I think that has been one of the biggest recruiting fails during Mark Richt's tenure. They can recruit with the best at the skill positions but forget that championships are won in the trenches. True enough they received a verbal from a 2016 5-star recruit but will they continue to press for better offensive linemen. A great example of a teams that place a lot of emphasis on the OL are Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee. Georgia acts as if offensive linemen are along for the ride.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

Face it, under Mark Richt we're always going to sign top notch WRs, RBs, QBs, TEs, etc on the offensive side of the ball. Every now and then you'll see us sign a 5 star O-lineman but Richt doesn't emphasize O-line like some coaches might. He puts an emphasis on great skill position play and to me, there's nothing wrong with that. Offensive play has not been our Achilles heel the past few seasons anyway. It's been defense. Beef that up with our new defensive coaches, and we'll see a title here soon enough. So for all you idiots that continue to bash Richt for not signing a ton of O-linemen, just recognize that he always says that if you can get 5 guys that know what they're doing and can get a hat on a hat for that second or two, he'll let the skill position players do the rest of the work. And how did that "dominating" O-line work out for Tennessee a couple seasons ago? Losing record.

I understand. I'm an old Dawg fan so I can relate to an old jacket fan. Have a great weekend.

So in your mind you have come to the conclusion that if it fits your desired "Statistics" you can pick and choose  ANY GROUP OF  CRITERIA  YOU LIKE. Well that knocks UGA back to 4-0 against GT in "this decade.  Perhaps if GT would subscribe to the "BARN PLAN"(aka We will accept  ANYBODY, ANYWHERE,  ANYTIME) Just check with Bagman Garner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@zengulliver, I’m not sure you know when a decade starts, but it starts with one, and goes too ten, 2001 is the start of the first decade and 2010 is the end, the next decade started in 2011. UGA is 2-1 this decade, And no that’s not owning them, but UGA was a tipped pass from being 3-0. Now in 2001-2010 UGA was 6-4 so UGA won that decade, we want know how this decade ends until 2020.

@iamlistening Not sure what Auburn and Tennessee have to do with your point.  UGA owns both this decade and is 1-2 vs. Bama.  What, exactly, are those OLs doing for them in relation to Georgia?  UGA recruits the same talent at OL as any other top program.  If you think the fact that kids like Laremy Tunsil, Avery Young, and Chuma Edoga end up signing elsewhere is indicative of UGA's interest or effort in recruiting the position then you aren't paying enough attention.  Theus and Cleveland are both 5-stars.  Tunsil was another but we all know what happened there.  The list of recent 4-star OL to come through UGA is too long to list.  And they also have 3-stars like Bolling and Jones making millions in the NFL.  Can UGA recruit better on the OL?  Sure.  But I can think of exactly 1 school that probably can't.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@iamlistening That has yet to hurt our offensive production however. UGA consistently has had one of the better offenses in the league. So what's your point?

You cant be serious about a man getting paid zillions of dollars/year to coach a  FOOTBALL TEAM and even hint that he does NOT emphasize  ALL AREAS of that football team.

Get back on your meds. All you are doing is encouraging the trolls and Negativers to follow suit when  there is no way in the world you could ever prove what you are putting out

@DawgGoneIt  Idiots?? OL has been priority for AL, AU and FSU....future and present pros over the last several years..How did those "dominating" O-line work...Nat'l Championships or near Nat'l Championships....Will Friend needs to improve in recruiting and coaching...be dominating not adequate...TIME FOR CMR TO WIN A NC!!!!!

DawgGoneIt

@RandyHall Did Tennessee win a national championship a couple seasons ago with all those senior starters on an O-line that was supposedly the best the SEC had to offer? No they went 5-7 or 6-6. One of the two. Barely sniffed a bowl game. Don't give me that crap.

iamlistening

@RandyHall @DawgGoneIt RandyHall, I agree with your comments. When Georgia has had good offensive lines, they have won. Imagine if Todd Gurley and Aaron Murray could have played behind the lines at Alabama - heck, even Tennessee. I am not trying to troll Georgia but the film doesn't lie.

Well going by your  INSTRUCTIONS  most sane folks would have  NOTICED that zengulliver  plainly stated "THIS DECADE"  but either way you want it sliced THIS DECADE only covers  ANY 10 year period so as you decree one must designate a  STARTING  YEAR. He did so but you have overruled him!!!!!!!!!!

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@KeepOnSmilingWetWillie There's no way West Virginia beats Bama. They might play you tough for about a quarter and a half. But Bama will take over in the 2nd half. I like their confidence however.

DawgGoneIt

@iamlistening Just two seasons ago we were on the doorstep of a national title. Offense was not the issue in that game. Defense was. In fact, you could make an argument that we should instead focus on D-line trench play rather than O-line play. Offense hasn't been the problem for years. If UGA has even a decent defensive showing a couple seasons ago, we'd be national champions. So you're not making much sense when you say if we somehow had a couple more 5 star recruits on the O-line, we'd automatically win more titles when defense has been our problem.

iamlistening
iamlistening

@DawgGoneIt @RandyHall No because they don't have  a QB and they lacked depth (talent-wise). Give Tennessee a QB and let them continue having good recruiting classes, and then come back and talk to me.

Buzz-Off

GT Bob, guess you can say the same thing about every GT recruit.

iamlistening

@DawgGoneIt @iamlistening Well, it amazes me when I read/hear a lot of Georgia fans complaining about their offensive line play. Bottom Line: It's ok to be a fan of your team and to wear rose colored classes but admit where you have weaknesses. And for what it's worth, you only scored 21 offensive points in that game against Alabama. If your offense is as prolific as you are insinuating, then you should have scored a lot more... I am using this argument because you mentioned it 'just two seasons ago we were on the doorstep' comment.

But what if, as you say about CMR,  10RCs HC  just doesn't put any emphasis on QBs?????

What a bunch of  I D I O T S  who thinks they know better than the people whose livelihood depend on the performance of their team. When you are  HC E V E R Y T H I N G  is important. I often wonder why none of you are in the coaching profession..................Not really! It's obvious!!!!!!

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@iamlistening THATS MY ENTIRE POINT!!!! O-line itself isn't going to win you squat!!! It's a MUST that you have great skill position players. You can get by with a solid-good O-line. Doesn't have to be great.

@DawginLex How much have you watched the kid play? Seems like big words for a 16 year old.

DawgGoneIt

@iamlistening I recognize where UGA has it's weaknesses and it is not on offense. Offense was the only reason we won 8 games last year with a pathetic defense. Bobo actually deserves a raise for the job he did last season even after starter after starter went down due to injury and we still was able to score enough to win. I closed my eyes when our defense was out there. It was painful to see. That's where our weakness is as of last season. Will it be a strength this year under new leadership? We'll see.

DawginLex
DawginLex

@FlatTire @DawginLex Our ability to stop the run consistently. Not forcing turnovers.

Giving up big plays because we were not lined up correctly, especially 3rd down

Our offense set school records the past 2 years. If we had any of the above on defense, we would have won the national title in 2012.

DawgGoneIt
DawgGoneIt

@FlatTire Oh my freakin God, did you not watch last season AT ALL?!!??! Defense! Defense! Defense!!! Wake up people!

DawginLex
DawginLex

@GTBob @DawginLex Me personally? Not much, just film.

The recruiting guys that I trust who follow it closely say so. Also the coaches of opposing teams. The kid turns 16 this month and is 6'5" 320 pounds and is bench pressing over 400 pounds. He I mammoth and he is legit

iamlistening
iamlistening

@DawgGoneIt @iamlistening By a country mile your defense was beyond awful. SEC coaches were sad to see Grantham leave. In regards to the offense, it's going to be interesting to see how well Aaron Murray made Georgia's offensive line look. Whenever you have a QB that is highly skilled, he hide deficiencies.

MullDawg

@DawginLex @FlatTire  Defense and Special Teams have been the problems for past three to four seasons. How many games have e lot just because of special teams? My 2 cents.

FlatTire
FlatTire

@DawginLex  our poor O-line blocking has been one of the problems along with poor defense and poor special teams

FAT  TIRE  may have a point.  Gurley would have gained 2000 yds in 2013 although he played in only four games when he was at full strength!!!

A TRUE FRESHMAN not highly recruited(Douglas)would have averaged over 10 yds/carry if only we had had an OL!!!!!!!!!

@GTBob @DawginLex there is one guy in particular that I trust who goes to high school games all over the south and he says he is going to be a star

It is potential to a certain degree. This kid won't redshirt. You redshirt to gain strength. If he is that strong, he will play right away just like Theus
