Florida Gators’ recruit tweets out proof that he had UGA offer

By Michael Carvell

Adonis Thomas committed to Florida over Alabama last Friday.

But the 4-star linebacker from Central Gwinnett High School was catching flack from some UGA fans on Twitter who claimed he didn’t really have an offer from the home-state Bulldogs.

This kind of bothered Thomas, so he tweeted out a copy of the UGA scholarship letter he had recently gotten in the mail from Mark Richt on Monday.

“I did it because there was fans saying I didn’t have a real UGA offer, and they were saying they never recruited me,” Thomas told the AJC.

Did it work? Did tweeting out a copy of his UGA offer clear things up with those fans? “I don’t know, maybe,” Thomas said with a laugh. “You know you always have bad feedback (from fans of other schools) in recruiting, regardless.”

The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder is rated as a 4-star and the No. 18 overall prospect out of the state of Georgia for 2015.

I may have missed something here but what does it all matter? He had an offer but chose Fla. I just don't understand his attitude. What caused his Indian underwear to creep so far up his rear end? What's he so ticked about? He chose Fla and I wish him the best of luck. But why so bitter?

Ga so-called fans hurt the UGA more than anything else.  Most of them are too danged snooty, or, red neck.

I'm glad he shut up many of you idiots on here and on Twitter

He will have a new head coach at UF next year. UGA backed off of him and it is just sour grapes on his part.

Geez. The kid signs with Florida over Alabama and the dawg fans feel the need to trash him. Even though he didn't pick my beloved Tide we wish him well. Roll Tide!

Sad to have supposedly Dawg "fans" bad-mouthing or giving a HS kid a hard time.  That's exactly how the Harvey-Clemons "controversy" got started.

Sensitive kid. Those were twitter geeks messing with him.

Glad he received offer from UGA. Otherwise, all hell would have broken loose from the idiot bashers on message boards. Asking why didn't they try to recruit this kid?

They're worse than backseat drivers.

Great player, but did not pick UGa and Bama due to the competition. He has a much better chance to play at Florida because they haven't done well recruiting LBs for several years. We don't need a kid who is afraid of competition......and one who has to post his acceptance letter because of his big (and fragile) ego and insecurities!!!

That's all it was an offer

Until he meets all of the requirements  in the offer and until he signs in Feb. Bad tweets will get it yanked   Ask last years players who were dropped

I wish the idiots in our fanbase would pull for another team. If the kid wanted to go elsewhere, let him be and move on.

UGA fans are obnoxious. Funny how they immediately go on defensive calling everyone trolls. Lol. That's rich. Spurrier used to coach UF and smash UGA every year. He nows does that at USC. Only a matter of years until UF starts beating UGA regularly again.

Ok.  Glad you got that off your chest young man.  Just understand this.  Do not live your life for other people.  You committed to Florida.  That is a great thing for you.  Who cares what a handful of people say?  They do not speak for the millions of University of Georgia fans in this country. I know the Dawgs offered you and that doesn't mean a thing because you think the University of Florida is a better place for you.  And in the end that is all that matters.  You didn't have to prove anything.

All I will say is good luck at UF Adonis except for that little get together in Jacksonville each year.  I did think that was a pretty funny comeback to the naysayers though.

I am sure he will have another "intent" come October every year. Just a little more motivation never hurts.

Best of luck the young man and his family with the Gator's

Kind of sad the kid felt he had to prove he had a offer from UGA.

I hope he doesn't post the Bama offer since the section about the Charger selection and the T-towns Menswear gets into a lot of detail.

Ah, the form letter, with the personalized address.

Get used to it, kid. You'll see a bunch more of that as an adult. Better that you get yourself prepared now.

75-85 2015 prospects received this official offer i the mail from UGA, not just the 25 who will end up signing a NLOI on NSD... if one looks close you can see the 4 stipulations that apply to the offer... recruiting is a tough process and easily becomes like a business... something most youth have very little experience dealing with... you can't take it personally.... let it go bro...

Again congratulations to Adonis Thomas on his commitment to the UF he will receive a very fine education while continuing to build on his future football career in Gainsville...

Best of luck... but just not while playing in Jacksonville!

"(Picked) Florida because they haven't done well recruiting LBs for several years."

@Buzz-Off

I guess these recent LB recruits are chopped liver:

Alex Anzalone - soph.

Jarrad Davis - soph.

Matt Rolin - RS Freshman (injured last year)

Daniel McMillen - Soph.

Jeremi Powell - Soph

Antonio Morrison - Jr

Florida did not recruit a LB last year because they were so deep and talented at LB.

Truth is, Buzz-Off, he picked Florida because of a combination of coach relationships, school academics, and developed friendships on the team and with other players that are committed to and are likely going to Florida.  He also fits well into the Florida defensive scheme, as the Hybrid OLB/DE because of this pass rushing skills.  I have no doubt that "fear of competition" did not have any influence on where he committed or did not commit.  Georgia, Florida, and Bama all have excellent LB depth.  And Bama, in particular, needs off the edge pass rushers, which this recruit does very well....and why Florida and Bama were his two finalists.

But I am sure you have no interest in any of the above information.

You were one of those posting he had not received an offer from Georgia.  Wet Willie called you out as posting B.S.  He was correct.  But, go ahead, keep spinning what you spin and keep on "Believing." Sorry, I do not have a Bible verse off the top of my head about not posting what is real and true.  But I am sure you have one for justifying posting inaccurate information whenever you feel like it.   By the way, Go Adonis!  Go Gators!

P.S. Adonis was offered by Bama as well.  Unlike when they are recruiting against Georgia, they did not get their man this time.  Horton either.

There is a Bible verse that folks like you ignore......along with a bunch of other things......"Judge not so you will not be judged."

I am hardly in any sort of trouble....short or long term.  I am just having some fun on a sports blog when I have down time during yet another beautiful day spent in glorious retirement.  But you keep on believing and judging that I am a troubled person if that does your heart and soul some sort of eternal good.  My suggestion....take a trip out to the Grand Canyon.  Get a guide and go down the Colorado River for a couple of weeks.  Hike back into the canyon during the day and touch rock formations that were carved out by glaciers and water millions of years ago, and see foundations of homes left by people 8 to 12 thousand years or so ago.....and like me....your heart will be at peace.....because you will realize that the earth and its living things were here thousands and millions of years before you and I ever walked on its magnificent surface, along with the universe that most likely has been here trillions of years before the earth became part of its existence.....and you will then know that you are hardly even a spec in the existence of time and future specs of some kind will be here millions and probably trillions of years after your spec and my spec has moved on in time and back into the earth from which it evolved.  Such is God.  Such is creation.  Such is science.  Such if life.  And life....it is very, very good to and for me.  But thank you for thinking and judging differently.

And there was me thinking that the section of the letter saying "As the coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs..." meant that Mark Richt was the one whose signature was on the offer letter.

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word,it isbecausethere isno light in them. ~Isaiah 8:20

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me." ~ Matthew 5:11

The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, ~ 1 Corinthians 2:15

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. ~ Psalm 37:30

You have the freedom to believe whatever you want to believe.. trillion & billions of years ago.. evolving from monkeys Etc... but your words do not match up to the written words in the Bible (instruction manual for all humans) the words written above are straight from that book and are not my own words.. but the word of God!

What took Jesus so long to get here, Dawg Gawn?  And what about those poor native people living along the banks of the river out west 12 thousand years ago?  I wonder how they managed to be happy without the Bible to read?  I guess Jesus was too late to earth to save them.  Or do they just get a late pass to heaven?  I guess it just took Jesus millions of years to make it through the universe to good old earth to save good ole Tampa Gator. I hope he arrives on whatever next planet in the universe he plans to visit in time to save more of those native type creatures......and some monkeys while he is at it.  Don't they deserve to be in heaven as well?

By the way, DawgGawn it, I practice the spiritual principles Jesus taught every day in my life and that practice brings peace and joy to my life every single day.  And I strongly believe Jesus was a person of spiritual enlightenment who cared more for others than himself, and fault against injustices against his people and paid for it with his life. All else (religion) is the creation of humans that followed him, and the creation of the Bible came at a time when those who governed needed a tool to both encourage and control the uneducated and poor masses of the time.  Some still use that tool for the same purposes today....but get a lot richer doing it now.  And they form a political party, not stand up against them for what is right for ALL people.

I agree with the man made religion (legalism) part of your rant, but the bible was written as an instruction manual for all humans as a guide to follow in the footsteps of the Chosen One ...

Everything you have written thus far is based on just purely simple unbelieving rhetoric... here's a word... Spirituotherapy.. doesn't have to do with any particular religion but helps those who are self-centered understand the true meaning of Salvation... book - Handbook to Happiness - Dr Charles Solomon... download to your Kindle, and read

Also read-up on Saul of Tarsus.. he was once like you and I until the Holy Spirit suddenly entered into his life...

FYI - Luke 18:19-14 is about two prayers of two separate individuals from different walks of life:

Pharisee = (Rabbi) who has added rule after rule to God's already commanding law (Legalism)

Tax Collector = (IRS todays time) Hated for taking monies for thought of unjust purposes. (Wealthy)

Both were sinners... but prayed to God differently... Tax Collector could not look up to God (he knew he had sinned) justified... Pharisee was about self... (fasting twice a week instead of just once a year at Atonement) trying to earn his way to Heaven and separating himself from others thereby sinning unknowingly....

I am God's servant (vessel) put here on Earth for His purpose only... this is the sole purpose He has willed to me..

God gives you the freedom of choice.....
