Beyonce helping Tennessee with football recruiting

By Michael Carvell

The University of Tennessee is using pop star Beyonce in football recruiting.

The Volunteers sent one of their top targets, defensive tackle Shy Tuttle of Lexington, N.C., a photo-shopped cover of Rolling Stone magazine with him and the pop star walking together.

Tuttle is shown in a black Tennessee t-shirt with the caption, “Beyonce on why she thinks Tuttle belongs at Tennessee.”

There’s another caption about the singer that reads “GameDay trends: Change as Beyonce is spotted in Neyland.”

Who knew Beyonce was a Tennessee fan? And who knew that Tennessee could gain favor with Tuttle by marketing Beyonce?

Love or hate Tennessee’s idea, it was a grand success because Tuttle obviously liked it and was impressed enough to tweet it out.

In the wacky world of recruiting, anything that makes a school stand out from the rest of the pack is smart strategy.

What do you think? Please post below. And let’s have a contest: Who can come up with the best match of a celebrity promoting a college football team’s recruiting on a magazine cover? Which celebrity and which college? And what would caption say? Please post below.

This is so far from awesome as one write in guy in the original headline article wrote. It shows how low they will go and how simple and gullible they think a recruit is.They don't have permission from Knowles or Rolling Stone. Even if they did, who cares? Trying to create a sexual fantasy in a 17 year old's mind, that is classless, tasteless, and wrong. And that it will be fulfilled if he plays for the Volunteers, with a married woman,no less, most could care less about. A write in, Brian Chen may think this is awesome, over hypes and wrongly may influence vulnerable young men. Most think this is awful. It has nothing to do with football, or truth. See Dawg-Gawn's post below. In lieu of Chen's most awesome, new and higher standard, headlined for all young men to see, it is a new low in recruiting. It sends a negative contrived message about the Volunteers and how low they will stoop.I would think that most recruits and their parents would be turned off by. Richt loves his players, molds them into men with morals and values. See Trent's and many other players, including former and parents comments. He prepares them for life and started a program to help all former players for life after football, also. Just what is needed, even more in this generation. It's College Football, and should be about that. Caring for individual players and getting these young men who will be 3-5 vital years from home on the right path. This Tennessee created fantasy speaks loudly about their program and attitude about these young men. These kids need mentors with character, class, integrity, who truly care about them.To be positive difference makers in their lives as well as football. Most college players don't play in the pro's and/or have short careers. Richt has more N.F.L. starters the last 5 years. The only team close is Alabama. Even players who were dismissed say how they deserved it and it was a positive turning point in their lives. Richt's post football program invites them. also. Just 2 of many are Isaiah Crowell and Chris Sanders.Isaiah and Chris said the same. Isaiah also says that he is a Dawg for life. Richt helped him and others, after.Chris said he made a big and wrong mistake ( with Nick M.) has said great things about Richt and U.G.A. He advised little brother Dominick to play for the Dawgs. I hope that he has a great career at Baylor. Marshall others he helped. after. Legally he could keep them from going to rivals like Auburn. He says that he doesn't want to hold back a kid from playing at what he thinks he will be happy at. Loving his players, being who he is, is paying big dividends. Character, integrity instead of delusional created fantasies, honesty, trust, morals and standards will win out. Both on the field and off. Trent says he loves Christian Coach Richt. No doubt, his and many other parents agree, to have their young son under Richt's guidance and love for their son's, away from home. And to be part of the great future of Georgia football! Dawg-Gawn's accurate post of the Volunteers.

Her husband is a sports agent and owns a sports agency. If they own the company together there could be a conflict here. Just saying.

I really hope UT did their due diligence because they would have needed the permission of both Rolling Stone and Beyonce (and stars are very protective of their brand).

what we should have done is what UGA has done in the past for Crowell.

Line up the whole DLINE, with one DT missing, and have Shy come see it and tell him he's the missing piece.

In order for that to work like UGA however, we would have to cut our practice facility in half to mimic UGAs indoor facility. AAHAHAHAH

Is Tennessee paying Beyoncé for the use of her image or have they made arrangements with the Rolling Stone for the use of copyrighted material ( the magazines name)? Or did they just go by the mantra of if you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying?

Susan89

Yep.  I smell a lawsuit if Beyonce' did NOT give them permission to use her image.

Actually, Beyoncé ain't really a Tennessee fan, she just heard something about 'orange being the new black' and that Tennessee was as orange is as orange can be - for one that's been left out in the sun too long.

Too funny...photo shop or not, it's the first time in years anything UT has sniffed the front cover of a magazine.

Butch Jones and UT are so Myrtle Beach.

Unless Beyonce is dropping tro for these guys, this is NOTHING...

Also...  I can detect the NCAA coming after this...  Sounds like the Butch is feeling desperate..

NO way Tennessee used Beyoncé's mage without her permission....they aren't THAT stupid....WAR EAGLE, GO JACKETS!

Tennessee can get ready for the lawsuits (which are currently being filed) along with "cease and desist" orders from using Beyonce's image and Rolling Stone magazine's image without (obvious) permission. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Discussion has been around how Tennessee will be able to climb out of their hole with all the programs around them doing so well (UGA, SC, Bama, Auburn, etc.) Tennessee historically struggles unless the others are in a down cycle. 2018 will mark twenty years since UT won the SEC, and not much chance they win one before then. They used to laugh at UGA for their drought. Not so much fun when the shoe is on the other foot.

Recruiting, really? I think like most other "celebrities" they just can't seem to get enough of themselves. Gotta get the photo ops and show off this fab body I spend so much time toning. Maybe if she didn't show so much all of the time, there would be an interest. Go home Bouncy!

@Griffin1 Creating a fantasy in a young man's mind with a very bad influence and married woman that has no approval, is classless, trashy and shows how rocky top bottom the Volunteers have gone to, and how they really are.

@Dawg-Gawn  Or they could send him the pic of the TYPICAL UGA fan drawn by Mark RIcht with a box of crayons.

@CrazedDawg  Thank you for that keen insight, Perry Mason. BTW....what is a law "suite"? Is that where attorneys stay on vacation? Kinda like Embassy Suites? You must be a UGA grad.

@Joeyfalcon32 Georgia has class, dignity, honesty, standards and character. The Vol's plummeted to a new low, showing their true colors, tasteless attempts to lure young men with perversion.

@BulldawgRick Good point, didn't you just get a WR yesterday? All UGA fans were bickering about how UT fans were bitter about it, so why are you bitter about this  ?

@Chuck_UGA when is the last time UGA won a NC? Was it before you were born? How do you know lawsuits are being filed? Crayola plans on filing a lawsuit against UGA for using their products to produce those hideous pictures that they send to recruits.

@Superguard @gadem we got stuck with a damn Dooley as our coach.
We couldn't help but be losers with that blood line running things into the ground. I actually think he did nothing on purpose.

@DirtyDawg I think he just insulted Myrtle Beach.  Even that skankpit is too good for Vols fans to afford. Landlocked states have an inferiority complex, which also explains Kentucky fans.

Uh... didn't you paste this like 3 posts ago? Pretty lame there aren't ya? Lol! Anyhow, all of these stem from Richt's drawings, so how can talk about the original? It's ok, you don't know any better.

Nate-the-Great

Yeah exactly! Tennessee ain't land locked!! Neither is Kansas or Nebraska!!

Here is a good idea:

1) Get a dictionary and see what land locked means. Here's a hint, it means not touching a major body of water!

2) Get a map of the USA.

3) Get back to me.
