Mitch Hyatt: Clemson 5-star reflects on committing early

If you’re an elite recruit and don’t want to draw a lot of extra attention to yourself during the recruiting process, then you may want to follow the example of Mitch Hyatt.

The 5-star offensive lineman from North Gwinnett High School made his college announcement when it would attract the least amount of attention. He committed to Clemson on last February’s national signing day — the one day out of the year when almost everybody in the world is focused on that current year’s class of seniors (Hyatt was a junior).

Hyatt picked Clemson due to family connections (his uncle played for the Tigers), and he never really considered any other schools.
