Rashad Roundtree: UGA 5-star target talks recruiting

By Michael Carvell

One of the hardest recruits to figure out this year is 5-star Rashad Roundtree.

He keeps a low profile in the suburbs of Augusta, where his father is the sheriff.

Roundtree hasn’t really named any leaders, but he has said he will take official visits to UGA and Ohio State. Auburn is also in the mix.

Roundtree is rated as a 5-star by Rivals. He’s also a 4-star and the state’s No. 9 overall college football prospect, per 247sports composite rankings.

In the below video, Roundtree talks about what he likes about UGA. And he also finally gives a “hint” on where he’s going to go …

Here’s a good article on Roundtree from the Augusta Chronicle’s Wayne Staats

Michael,

Just a suggestion.  If one was visiting this blog, had not heard of Rashad, and wondered what position Rashad was currently playing or being recruited for they wouldn't have a clue from this story or video.

The Golden Rule in reporting...don't assume!

Got a call from a friend who thought we had gotten a big commit but I can't get a confirmation and now he thinks it's just a rumor. Have to watch that one for a few days.

Rather him go to Georgia than Ohio State. Don't be like McMillan.

Sharp kid.  Any school would be lucky to get him.

Rashad, REP your state, be a star at UGA and the love will pour out all over Georgia for you and your family! GoDawgs!

When it is all said and done, playing in front of the home folks may be the tipping point.  Really like it when the local kids stay close to home, they eventually do also.

Don't think he'll be swayed by a free tattoo...

Funny kid. I like his speaking style, and impressed that he's considering Duke just for the academics. To me, that indicates he's a bright kid.

This young man grew up watching the excitement and bigness of SEC football. Going up north to get " Geeked up" to play Ball St and Indiana St ain't gonna happen among a bunch of stangers. He'll be wearing the red and black next year. Go Dawgs. Hellva class building up. This DB will add to it.

@96JB I didn't think that Raekwon McMillan would pick Ohio State over Georgia last year either. The idea of playing in a much weaker Conference must appeal to some. Some want to give Meyer credit for being a Great Coach while at Florida but I prefer to give credit to the Great Coordinators who were under him , Meyer just got the credit. When they left he left. Meyer Recruiting base was gone and even though he is a good Recruiter his Coordinator are the ones who brought all the former greats in , not Meyer.

@OH-IO  Not sure he was meaning shoes.  If he was telling the truth AU and tOSU just got eliminated.
