Roquan Smith: UGA vs. Florida for 4-star LB?

By Michael Carvell

Does UGA and Florida lead for 4-star linebacker Roquan Smith of Macon County High School?

That has been the rumor all along with Smith, who will take an unofficial visit to UGA for this weekend’s Clemson game. Smith officially has UGA, Florida, Miami and UCLA among his leaders.

Smith talks candidly about his recruiting in the below video:

What else could a recruit hope for in a visit that didn't happen tonight in the UGA game. GO DOGS!

If I ever seen a Bulldog, Smith is one.

Not a bow-tie man myself but he pulls it off.  The jacket is awesome.

According to WR/CB 5* Terry Godwin (UGA commit) having roomed twice with Roquan Smith at football camps throughout this summer and coupled with tagged team UGA Fam15 member 5* DT Trenton Thompson Roquan will be staying home and strapping on the G between the hedges in 2015...

Multiple commit watches have been issued for this weekend's game against the Clemson Tigers... the designated recruiting area in Sanford Stadium is totally full with future dawgs and has been updated (no longer green) with larger black padded seats....

2015 Players in attendance that could commit:

CB Dante Shipman (OV 48 hours) JUCO

ATH Donte Jackson

WR/DB Darius Slayton

OT Emanuel McGirt (OV 48 hours)

2016 RB JaQua Daniels & WR/TE Charlie Woerner (friends with Squad16 OT Ben "Big Countrty" Cleveland)

"BELIEVE" in the G

Roquan, snappy dresser!  When you play for UGA , have a great Pro career, then come back home, there will be much love in state for you and your family!  REP your state!  Go to UGA!

If he is waiting on a winning season to pick a school, UF is now officially out of the competition.

He wants to play the recruiting game for all it's worth.  Can't blame him.  It seems like the new mantra among uncommitted top prospects is focus on your team's season and then worry about the recruiting stuff.  I think Trent Thompson's commitment is a big factor for him.  Look at his eyes while he is talking about that.  UCLA is in the mix because he wants to go to California for the official visit.  Truthfully, I would too.

Commit to the "G".

Looks and sounds like a tough linebacker.

Funny, I thought every team was 0-0 at the moment. And Florida is a very deep and talented team.  You will soon find that out.

Smith mentioned the Gators' coaches, his relationship with the Florida players, and that Florida felt like home in the interview. Then, when asked about the important factors in his decision, he mentioned the importance of his relationship with coaches and the place that makes him feel most at home. Hummmmmmmmm. But very impressed with this young man and will be a class act wherever he chooses to play college ball.  He is very articulate, obviously intelligent, and a heck of a good dresser.  Go Gators!

@TampGator1 Or we might find out that they continue their slide and are even worse than last year.  Better learn some offense.  We all have optimism but so did South Carolina last night. AT HOME.  HIGH optimism and they are now last in the East. I would temper my comments a little because the truth is you hope but actually have no clue what the Gators will do this year.  Especially on offense.  They have been talented and deep since Muschamp got there.  They are the Florida Gators and recruits have BEEN going there.  No different this year.   What they gonna do?  Will they score enough to compete with these high scoring SEC offenses?  About to find out.  You are right about that BUT hey you might be saying "Oh no, WE SUCK AGAIN! "

Well....not Georgia State and the team they played last night.....1-0 and 0-1.

Guess again...........

Florida non senior LBs............

Antonio Morrison (Jr)

Alex Anzalone (soph)

Matt Rolin (RSFresh)

Jarrad Davis (soph)

Jeremi Powell (soph)

Daniel McMillan (soph)

and....two 4-star commits already for 2015

@Railroadtracgang

but the main reasons he might commit to Florida is what he stated in the article.....

1. Florida feels like home

2. He has a great relationship with Muschamp and DC, Durkin...the DC and LBs coach.

and possibly other factors.....two of his friends are already committed to Florida for 2015 and he is not afraid of competition....at Florida or Georgia.

@TampGator1 @Railroadtracgang  Possibly factors like..."I want to commit to a team where the head coach and all the assistants will be fired before I show up on campus"....RiiiiiiiGht!

@TampGator1 @Railroadtracgang Great relationship with Muschamp and the coaches?!  ROFLMAO!!!  You mean the coach who is most likely to be canned this year and the coaches go with him?  THAT  reason is not very strong bro!

@TampGator1 @Railroadtracgang  So when UF finishes 6-6, 7-5 losing to FSU and UGA again, will Muschamp even be around signing day?  To get to 7 wins, UF has to win all 4 of Vandy, Missouri, UT and Kentucky, not impossible by any stretch but is that good enough for Muschamp to retain his job?  Of course there is the chance of losing 2-3 of those as well, Vandy's new coach is the best in the business at stopping the spreak.

@Dawg1953 @TampGator1 @Railroadtracgang  OK come on....  I like busting on Gators as much as anyone but do you REALLY think the Florida team of last year is representative of the program?  They were hit just as hard (if not worse) than we were with the injury bug.  We need to watch our own shop until we figure out what we have...  our D may be worse than their O

But Gators still eat boogers.... (I wish I could find my old bumper sticker that said that.... I use to tape it on the back window before driving to Jax every year). Funny thing, one year I was  driving down I-75 north of Tifton and a Gator car passes me (also on their way to Jax. I assume) - I look over and the girl in the passenger seat looks over at me and starts digging for gold and laughing as she acts like she  is eating it.  I almost crashed my car I was laughing so hard....  man I love that game !
