UGA football recruit to undergo surgery

One of UGA’s top recruits will undergo knee surgery on Friday.

Jayson Stanley, a 4-star wide receiver from Creekside High School, tore his ACL in his team’s season-opener on Aug. 27. He committed to UGA over Auburn, among others, last month.

“Jayson is in good spirits,” his mother told the AJC on Thursday evening. “He is ready for the surgery. He’s eager to meet and exceed the challenges of physical therapy.

“His faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, along with family, keeps him looking forward to the future and appreciating the blessings even now.”

The 6-foot-2, 198-pounder is rated as the state’s No. 22 overall prospect and expected to make a full recovery. His father played football at Georgia Tech.
