UGA was edged out by Tennessee for 4-star defensive back Micah Abernathy, but the Bulldogs still have a good chance at his Greater Atlanta Christian high school teammate who is rated higher by the recruiting experts.
GAC’s Darius Slayton is rated as the state’s No. 16 overall prospect, per the 247sports.com composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has taken an official visit to UGA. Auburn is considered to be the biggest contender of the Bulldogs, while South Carolina is also in the race.
Slayton, who will most likely play wide receiver in college but could also get looks at defensive back, told the AJC this week that he has not “scheduled or determined yet” his official visits to Auburn or South Carolina – or anywhere else.
Slayton said he’s also sticking with his plan to reveal his college decision within the next month or two. “Yes, that is the timeline.”
