UGA lost a recruit on Friday night.
Patrick Allen, a 4-star offensive lineman from Maryland, backed off his pledge he made to UGA last August.
The de-commitment was connected to the departure of UGA’s offensive line coach, Will Friend, who is the new offensive coordinator at Colorado State. Allen had built a personal friendship with Friend.
Here’s what Allen tweeted:
It’s a big loss for UGA because Allen had helped make up a little bit for UGA’s struggles to recruit in-state offensive linemen this year.
It’s one of the strongest years for offensive linemen out of Georgia, led by 5-stars Chuma Edoga (committed to USC) and Mitch Hyatt (Clemson). But the state’s top nine rated prospects at the position are headed to out-of-state schools.
