UGA finished off the wildest and wackiest signing day under Mark Richt when 5-star Terry Godwin announced that he was sticking with his commitment to the Bulldogs.
Godwin was contemplating a flip to Auburn after coach Gus Malzahn visited Godwin’s house and high school on two separate trips last Saturday — while Auburn had official visitors on campus.
“I was very pleased with the decision Terry Godwin made this evening,” UGA’s Mark Richt said. “He’s an exceptionally talented young man, a good student, and a good person. His future is bright at UGA. It has been a great day to be a Dawg.”
UGA finished the day with 28 commitments, and could add another one later this week with Macon County linebacker Roquan Smith. He committed to UCLA in front of ESPN cameras, but didn’t sign the paperworks after reports surfaced that the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons had offered a job to UCLA defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
Back to Godwin: How was UGA able to hold on? Because the Bulldogs signed his older sister to a last-minute basketball scholarship in July. The siblings are close.
