The state’s top prospect at running back made an unofficial visit to UGA on Saturday.
And he said it went “great.”
Elijah Holyfield is the son of boxing legend Evander Holyfield, and he’s also a 4-star out of Woodward Academy.
“I had a great time,” Holyfield told the AJC. “I got to meet everybody and talk with everyone.”
What was the best thing UGA told Holyfield? “It was when they talked about the Paul Oliver Network and life after football.”
UGA was a childhood favorite of Holyfield, and the Bulldogs were considered to be an early frontrunner after making an early offer. However, UGA lost momentum when Holyfield didn’t hear from the Bulldogs for a stretch after changing assistant coaches at running back.
Last month, UGA officially got back into the sweepstakes for Holyfield, who said he didn’t “hold any grudges” after not hearing from the Bulldogs. He went for a tour of the campus on Saturday, and met with the coaches.
Auburn is considered the school to beat for Holyfield.
