UGA commitment Darion Anderson is not coming to “Dawg Night” camp this weekend. The 4-star recruit from Houston County is also the only receiver commitment for the 2016 class at this time.
Is that a commitment to start worrying about? Nope. Anderson told the AJC his reason for missing the all-star event this week.
The reason: Team.
Anderson is rehabbing from a knee surgery this past May and said he doesn’t want to make the trip so he can concentrate on his daily rehab and recovery.
“Just rehab,” he said. “Trying to get back to my (high school) team as soon as possible.”
Houston County coach Von Lassiter told the AJC earlier this month that Anderson was working his way back furiously from a torn meniscus he suffered in May while running routes on his own
The expectation was he would return in time for fall camp in August. His rehab is coming along and he just started running. He should return to the field for the second week of fall practices, he said.
Anderson said his commitment to UGA has not changed despite the fact he won’t be in Athens this weekend.
“Still strong with Georgia,” he said.
