UGA had three of the nation’s top 10 running backs on campus, and it appears the Bulldogs made it clear who their No. 1 priority is.

Elijah Holyfield, a 4-star RB from Woodward Academy, told the AJC that UGA assistant coach Thomas Brown let him know that he is the main focus of the Bulldogs

“He told me that I’m the back they want in this class and he would be perfectly happy if he only takes me,” Holyfield said.

Not only did the 5-foot-10, 204-pounder have a chance to talk to Brown, but he also talked to Mark Richt. The message was the same.

“They have been pretty adamant about it,” he said. “They have told me that I am No. 1 many times now.”

Holyfield competed alongside 4-star Devwah Whaley of Texas and 3-star Carlin Fils-aime of Florida at Saturday’s Dawg Night. They are two other 2016 running backs with UGA offers.Saturday night – two running backs with UGA offers.

The son of boxing legend Evander Holyfield thinks he was better than both of them.

“I think I compared pretty well to them. I don’t want to sound cocky, but I feel like I was the best one out there.”

Holyfield is getting close to making his college decision. He said that he is likely to announce which school he’ll attend at the start of his high school season next month.

By the sound of it, it appears that he will be playing football in the SEC.

“The schools I have visited the past couple of weeks – Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee – those are the schools that I’m paying close attention to these next couple of weeks,” he said. “I’m not going to get another chance to visit those schools again. I think I’ve seen enough of them already, so I think in my mind, I’m ready to pick a school.”

When asked which school is mind is set on, Holyfield said “I’m not really sure. I’m still trying to find where my heart really is.”
