With a few weeks left until Dylan Singleton announces his commitment, he has named UGA his leader.

The four-star safety from Archer High School told the AJC that it’s a battle between UGA and Duke, with Ohio State trailing, but the in-state school has the advantage right now. He’II announce toward the end of August.

“That’s where I feel like I want to play college football at right now,” Singleton said. “I feel like I can fit into their system nicely.”

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder said UGA is recruiting him as a free safety, but he prefers to play strong safety because he likes making tackles in the box.

Singleton last visited UGA for Dawg Night. He hung out with defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt and running backs coach Thomas Brown.

“They didn’t really pressure me to commit or anything,” he said. “I was just really hanging out with them. We weren’t really talking about recruiting at all.”

Even though UGA is his current leader, Duke is a big contender for the commitment of Singleton.

Dylan’s brother, Deondre Singleton, is a returning starter for the Blue Devils. He also plays safety.

The Archer standout plans on announcing his commitment before his first game on Aug. 21. Before that happens, he has some thinking to do.

“Me and my family will have to sit down and talk about it and make sure that it’s the right decision for my future,” he said.

Singleton is rated as the state’s No. 23 overall prospect.
