Preston Williams, a 5-star wide receiver from Lovejoy, GA, told the AJC on Friday that he must retake the ACT and may not be cleared to play this season for the Tennessee Volunteers.
The AJC Super 11 wide receiver was the No. 6 player in the 2015 class for the state of Georgia.
When asked to go into detail about having to take the ACT, Williams said “I don’t want to talk about that right now.”
Williams caught 36 passes for 937 yards and 18 touchdowns during his senior season before tearing his ACL.
It seems that his injury is in the past however, as Williams says “I’ve been cleared to play by the trainers. They said I’m good to go.
Despite his clean bill of health, the receiver is not currently practicing.
“Right now they’ve got me sitting out to take care of a few things,” Williams said.
