What’s going on in recruiting across Georgia and the SEC’s footprint outside of UGA? The aim of the AJC College Recruiting Links every morning is to deliver just that.

But before I get to those stories, you need to know a few things: An ex-Alabama commit was at UGA on Saturday, a UGA commit suffered a minor injury and a top Bulldogs’ target took a last-minute visit to Auburn over the weekend.

Now, let’s get your Monday morning started.

Today’s need-to-know stories

1. Former NFL star’s son still considering two SEC programs

Jair Anderson, son of former NFL offensive tackle Willie Anderson, told the AJC last week that he’s narrowed down his final schools to Georgia Tech and Cincinnati. Over the weekend, though, Anderson informed the AJC that he’s also considering UGA and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver out of Northview added that he will not consider any other offers when he announces his commitment.

2. Georgia QB headed to Ivy League program

Garrett Rigby of Tucker High School committed to Harvard on Sunday, his family confirmed to the AJC.

There was some speculation in June that Rigby had committed to Georgia Tech, but the 5-foot-11, 185-pound safety wasn’t ready at the time to make a decision.

Evidently, he’s ready now. Read up on why he chose Harvard here.

3. Who is the best quarterback in the country?

Some argue that Davis Mills is the top quarterback in the state. Others, like longtime friend Connor Heyward, a 3-star athlete at rival Peachtree Ridge, thinks he’s potentially the best in the entire country, regardless of class.

“If he’s not, he’s the best quarterback in the country for the class of 2017,” Heyward told the AJC. “I think he’s better than a lot of guys in the class of 2016.”

This is a perfect Monday morning debate for all you recruiting junkies. While most of you may point to UGA commit Jacob Eason as the label getter, ponder this: a scout mentioned Andrew Luck and Davis Mills in the same sentence.

Read this piece on Mills and formulate your own opinion.

4. Not your average family

The Heyward family has some really, really good genes. And the youngest brother, Connor, reminded us of that on Sunday, when he posted a photo on Twitter of his older brothers, Cameron and Corey.

If you don’t already know, Cameron is a defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers and other brother Corey is a shooting guard at Georgia Tech.

The youngest Heyward is looking to extend the family tradition. The 3-star athlete, who’s the son of former NFL fullback Craig Heyward, is considering multiple offers.

5. Soundbites and storylines from around the SEC

Some guy named Tim Tebow scored his first NFL touchdown in two years … A key player on Arkansas’ offense will miss significant time … Steve Spurrier, the quarterback whisperer, can’t find a quarterback to whisper to … Florida Gators banking on indoor facility to help them reach SEC Championship Game
