  1. Another Auburn-South Carolina battle?

Marlon Character, a 4-star safety, lined up his official visits for fall, and Auburn made the cut. Why is that significant? Character, who pledged to South Carolina in July, told the AJC a few weeks ago that he was close to committing to Auburn when he last visited campus with his girlfriend.

Though he says his recruitment isn’t open, he admits that he doesn’t want to cut communications with the Tigers just yet.

Bottom line: His recruitment may not be open, but it is far from over, and this will likely play out over the next few months. Read what else the 6-foot, 170-pound safety had to say about Auburn here.

  1. Who’s been offered? Who’s committed? We have the latest here:

Walton High School has been fairly active in the recruiting world. The school has seen three players commit in the last two weeks. KK Brooks, a running back, committed to the University of Pennsylvania in early August. Ryan Roegge, a safety, committed to Dartmouth on Monday and Christian Sullivan, a defensive back, committed to Princeton on Tuesday.

Not a bad start to the week.

  1. Recruiting spotlight: D.J. Brown (Creekside High School)

D.J. Brown, a 3-star cornerback, is slowly reeling in offers. The 2017 prospect tells the AJC that he picked up four in 10 days this past summer, and he expects that number to grow.

The 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback took a few unofficial visits this summer, most notably to Georgia Tech, UCF and Auburn. Brown admits that Auburn is a dream school of his.

  1.  Every kicker deserves his 15 seconds of fame

At LSU’s media day on Tuesday, kicker Colby Delahoussaye and punter Jamie Keehn got the chance to channel their inner sideline reporter, and the results were fantastic. Check out the video below, courtesy of LSU football

Evidently, you can count on them for more than just field position and game-winning field goals.

  1. Soundbites and storylines from around the SEC
