T.J. London of Carver-Columbus High School could be nearing a decision soon after de-committing from Louisville earlier in the summer.

The 3-star defensive tackle told the AJC on Monday that he’s narrowed down his list to Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, UAB, Mississippi State and Louisville.

“Those are probably the schools I’ll be choosing from anytime soon,” London said.

But according to London, the latter three appear to be his frontrunners, and have recruited him heavily in recent weeks.

“Right now, it’s neck-and-neck between three schools,” London said. “It’d have to be Louisville, UAB and Mississippi State.”

London, who once committed to Louisville in March, says the Cardinals still appeal to him in more ways than one. Two of his closest teammates have considered the Cardinals, and one has already committed — 4-star quarterback Jawon Pass.

“I love the coaching staff,” London said. “But I have a former teammate up there already, and Jawon (Pass), he’s going up there. Javontay (Smith), I have to see what he’s going to do if he’s going to go up there or not. That would be cool for all of us to go in there together. It would be a good experience if we can all play again at the college level.”

As for Mississippi State, London says he’s intrigued by the possibility of playing multiple positions along the defensive line.

London says the Bulldogs want him primarily at nose, but defensive line coach David Turner has entertained the possibility of him playing defensive end, too. London says the versatility could factor into his decision.

“It’s the SEC and it’s the defense that they run,” London said. “The way the coaches want to use me. I just like where the program is going.”

London has yet to schedule his official visits, but is hoping to get the chance to see UAB sometime this fall.

As for his plans this season?

“Lose weight and dominate,” London said.
