Sept. 1 marked the first day college football coaches could contact prospective 2017 recruits, per NCAA rules. Coaches began reaching out to players through email and social media. On Tuesday, some of those recruits shared some really sweet edits via Twitter. You can find them below.

But before we share those, have you checked in on DawgNation recently? Some guy named Jim Harbaugh is recruiting several UGA targets, a 4-star running back has secretly committed and some crazed fan promises to ink a 5-star recruit’s face on his body.

Now, on to the latest news around the state of Georgia and the SEC.

Today’s need-to-know stories

1. Georgia Tech’s newest commit follows in brother’s footsteps

Parker Braun will continue the family legacy at Georgia Tech when he enrolls next fall. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound guard will follow in the same path as his brother, Trey, who is entering his senior year as an offensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets.

The 3-star offensive lineman told the AJC in an interview on Tuesday that his decision ultimately came down to Georgia Tech, Duke, Stanford, Miami and Rice. He even held an offer from in-state rival UGA.

What sold Braun on the Yellow Jackets? For one, the program’s offense fits his playing style. He says he prefers blasting off and hitting linebackers and down-blocking, which made Georgia Tech an ideal fit. He also has experience blocking in a triple-option offense.

Read up more on the commit here and why he chose the Yellow Jackets.

2. Auburn commit inspired by NFL star

Eric Berry’s recent battle with cancer has touched several people beyond the NFL, a list that also includes Auburn commit Broadrious Hamm.

The 3-star offensive lineman from Spalding High School told the AJC this week that he’s discovered a newfound motivation in the former Tennessee Volunteer.

Hamm, who at one point was committed to Tennessee, pledged to Auburn in June, and says he’s still hearing from a select few schools but has no desire to take any visits.

Find out which programs he chose Auburn over.

3. Soundbites and storylines from around the SEC

A string of former South Carolina players survived the first wave of NFL cuts … Someone thinks Nick Saban is in his final year at Alabama … A Tennessee player was arrested for public intoxication … Steve Spurrier calls out Ohio State … A key player on defense to return for Florida’s season opener

4. Recruiting round-up

Breon Dixon, a 4-star linebacker from Peachtree Ridge, picked up an offer from Maryland.

Jamyest Williams, a 4-star defensive back from Archer, was offered by LSU.

Georgia Tech offered 3-star safety Stuart Head of Etowah.

Tyler Johnson, a defensive end from Stephenson, committed to Georgia Southern.

5. Check out these edits

Trey Sermon, one of the top running backs in 2017, shared this Alabama edit.

Jaden Hunter, a 4-star linebacker from Westlake, got a chance to see what it would be like to be selected during the NFL Draft, courtesy of Ole Miss. Now that’s creative.
